Alright, I finally bit the bullet and watched it.🙂
First impressions: honestly, since I was expecting a total train wreck and thought sitting through it would be a chore, I was actually surprised it wasn't half bad.
Objectively speaking, the movie lacks originality and inspiration, and it definitely needed more depth... it’s nowhere near the first one. In my book, it sits right in that mediocre sweet spot, just like the second part.
It's a bummer, though, because I was really looking forward to having some fun with it.

How many little ogres does Fiona end up having? 😍
I need to know for a giveaway I'm running. 😳

Three little ogre kids... Two boys and one girl...

Samuel Smith5 said:The movie is a disappointment. It falls significantly short of the second installment. While the character animation has reached perfection—the movements are so lifelike I actually assumed they were live-action scenes that had been edited down—the writing is abysmal. There are only a handful of jokes worth noting. It isn't worth a trip to the AMC Theatres. Just download it or wait for it to hit streaming if you feel the need to see it at all.

Exactly. Completely pointless. I forgot the entire thing the moment I walked out of the theater.

Caught it last night... honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't nearly as bad as I had braced myself for. With the second one, I felt like some of the logic was already getting pretty stretched thin, and yeah, there are definitely some questionable moments here too, but... man, there are a few scenes in this one that are absolutely hilarious.

So I caught this exclusive segment today about the premiere of Shrek, and it was honestly such a trip—they had this journalist interviewing Myers, and she kept hitting him with these super shallow, totally pointless questions. Then, out of nowhere, she starts digging into why everyone is obsessing over the "deeper message" of the movie and asks him what he thinks the actual message is supposed to be 😢

They are, though there's an unsynchronized version running over at AMC Theatres.
It’s charming, funny, and actually carries a decent little lesson 😉—it's solid, all things considered. Plus, the animation quality is high enough that I think seeing it on a big screen is worth the ticket price.
Then again, I have a massive soft spot for animation, so maybe my judgment is a bit biased. 😁

So, I’m actually heading over to AMC Theatres tonight to catch this unsynchronized English version. Honestly, though... can anyone even come close to matching Eddie's voice?

Just wanted to add that I checked back in a few hours later, and honestly? I’m still not feeling it. It kind of feels like the screenwriter just hit a wall and ran out of steam, and now they're somehow trying to pull a fourth installment out of thin air through pure luck.

Honestly, if you ask me, Shrek The Third is easily my favorite out of the whole trilogy. It just feels way more complete—like, it actually has a cohesive soul—but the biggest thing for me is definitely the comedy. The humor feels so much fresher, and I’d even go as far as to say it’s the most mature one of the bunch. It’s got those layers that really land with adults rather than just being some loud, mindless stuff meant for little kids. Seriously, give it a shot! 👍

is coming to AMC Theatres.

As per usual, theaters (at least here in Washington, D.C.) will likely show both versions. I suppose it really just comes down to personal preference, doesn't it?

Samuel Ortiz3 said:Personally, I find Shrek The Third to be the standout of the trilogy. It feels the most cohesive, if I do say so myself, but more importantly, the humor strikes me as remarkably fresh—perhaps even the most mature of the bunch. It seems to cater far more to an adult sensibility than to children. I’d certainly recommend it. 👍

For me, it edges out the second installment, though it fails to reach the heights of the first. All things considered, it’s a decent enough effort.

Look, with Shrek The Third pulling in 500 million at the box office, we're basically looking at a miracle in the making—Shrek 4.😁

I have to say, this new Shrek didn't really hit the mark for me. It felt like they were running low on actual clever bits, honestly. There were only two moments that actually landed for me—the part where the toad king just keeps dying endlessly, and then that bit with Ash chirping and hopping through the woods right before it transitions into Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant song"🤣

I'm heading to the theater to see it today. 😍

Did they keep the original voice cast? I'm specifically wondering about Antonia and Puss. 😍
