So, I’m dealing with some seriously dry skin issues. It’s not even really my face or stomach—it’s mostly my arms and legs... I’m 35 and honestly, I have no clue how to get that moisture back into my skin?????? Does anyone have any tips? I look at women who are 20 years older than me and their hands are somehow smoother than mine, which is just depressing lol. Help?????????
I’m not from New York City, I’m actually out in Savannah, so if anyone knows a good dermatologist in the area, please let me know!

Should I go with CeraVe lotion or L'Oréal?👍

Maybe try drinking more water, at least a liter a day

My biggest issue right now is definitely my knees. Over the last year or two, the skin there has started getting super wrinkled and kind of messy... which honestly freaks me out a little. I really don't want to look 70 when I'm only 40... so lately I've just been sticking to dresses and pants that cover my knees because I'm so self-conscious about it, especially during the summer.😳

I don't know what the water quality is like in Sioux Falls, but here in New York City, it's incredibly hard, and I'm convinced that's a huge reason why my skin feels so parched. For example, when I'm down in St. Louis, I never feel the need to apply anything after a shower. In New York City, that's just impossible. Personally, I swear by scrubs made with Salt and essential oils. After using a regular body wash, I rub myself down with the Salt Scrub and rinse off, and my skin feels perfectly soft right away. 👍

Over the last year or two, the skin there has started acting up so badly; it's just bunching up and looking all wrinkled and uneven... and frankly, it’s starting to worry me. I really don't want to be forty years old and looking like I'm seventy! It’s such a drag. Because of that, I’ve been sticking mostly to dresses and pants that cover my knees just to hide it—it's honestly embarrassing, especially once summer hits and you actually want to wear something light.😳

If you want to make a decent scrub at home—I’m talking the real deal—you could just go old school with some cornmeal, honey, and olive oil... honestly, those little DIY kitchen hacks are just pure bliss.😬 For crying out loud, just smear it on already! 😘

...and for heaven's sake, make sure you're drinking as much water as possible—seriously, stay hydrated! 🙏

Thanks! Maybe I’m just not drinking enough water... and I actually do the thing with the salt scrub pretty regularly. I don't overdo it either, and I always slather on some Nivea cream for dry skin right after my shower... It's so weird though, because my face and stomach aren't even acting like this.

So, I’ve been dealing with this dry skin nightmare lately too. My face is fine, but my body? It's so bone-dry that the second my skin feels tight, it starts itching and actually hurts... I'm slathering on everything under the sun and practically drowning myself in moisturizer, but nothing works. Honestly, could it be those birth control pills?🙄

I don't even use birth control, so I have zero clue what circulation has to do with any of this...😕

I honestly don't buy the idea that how much water you drink dictates your skin quality (unless you're basically living in a desert without a single drop).
Look, I chug water all day long, yet my skin is still bone-dry.🙄
What actually works for me is using an exfoliant paired with a lightweight oil—something way thinner than those heavy oils everyone uses. It doesn't leave me feeling greasy; it just leaves my skin looking naturally hydrated.🙂It’s packed with citrus essential oils, which I think is the secret sauce. You should definitely try something similar; it might do the trick for you.

Also, I’m convinced the real culprit behind dry skin is hard water. 👎At least, that's what I've figured out. Whenever I travel somewhere with soft water, my skin issues just vanish.

Maybe try applying some olive or jojoba oil—just start by targeting those specific spots where your skin feels incredibly dry.

And seriously, watch what you’re using in the shower; steer clear of anything that actually contains soap.

That Aderne gel is honestly great, though I'll admit it's a bit pricey.

I don't know what your diet looks like, but it’s absolutely vital that you're staying hydrated with plenty of water or unsweetened tea, and loading up on fresh fruits and veggies.

Good luck!!👋

I definitely try to stay on top of it, especially during the summer months... back when I was living in Australia, I used a mix of jojoba and olive oil, but lately, I’ve mostly just stuck with olive oil here...

Thanks! Honestly, now that I'm living in California, I don't think it's a water issue. Everyone visiting from up north always mentions how soft the water is down here...😕

By the way—just so we're clear—you're supposed to apply those oils while your skin is still wet. You know that, right? 😘

Ugh, I deal with the exact same thing—my skin gets super dry, but only in certain spots, mostly on my legs from the knee down. Right now, I’ve been using this Neutrogena cream for dry skin, and I also apply some Baby Dove oil while my skin is still damp right out of the shower.

Look, I’ll be the first to admit I was totally lost in this mess, but I think I finally figured out the trick. I used to be all about those oils you apply to wet skin—I even used to swear by Nivea cream for dry patches... but the real issue was that I’d end up feeling greasy as a pig. Nothing would actually absorb into my skin, even though I could comfortably lounge around naked for half an hour without a care. Then, once I actually dressed, I’d just have to wipe everything off with my clothes. You could practically smell the product sitting on top of me.😠
The thing is, you might not actually have dry skin—you might just have dehydrated skin. There's a huge difference; it means your skin is basically screaming for water. That’s why those heavy creams aren't doing a thing for you.
So, I decided to take a chance and grab some L'Oréal Lipikar from their line for extremely dehydrated skin. It worked wonders for me.👍 My skin felt... honestly, perfection. Before using it, I had these almost raw, irritated patches on my stomach.
Now, the downside is the price tag—for 400ml, it's roughly $43 which is quite a hit. Since I'm still a college student, it was a bit much for my budget, so I headed over to CVS to see what else they had that was similar. And I found this:😛
Go pick up some Dove Hydro Body Lotion with Vitamin F and spring water. It’s the one in the light blue bottle—the most affordable option. Right now, it's only $7.99 at CVS!

Good luck!👍
I know exactly how uncomfortable and frustrating all of this can be!!!

The water quality isn't uniform throughout California. For instance, it's soft in San Diego, but it gets hard once you hit Miami—though obviously not nearly as hard as it is in Chicago.

Personally, I swear by the Salt Scrub from de Laurier, which is distributed by Insako LLC. You can pick it up at Cosmos, and the 450g jar runs about $17. The ingredients are basically just Salt, almond oil, wheat germ oil, fragrance, and a blend of grapefruit and corn oils. It’s all natural stuff, aside from that fragrance, which might have a tiny bit of chemistry involved🙄. The beauty of it is that my skin feels so incredibly soft and hydrated afterward that I don't even need to bother applying anything else.
I struggled with "strawberry skin" for years, but since I started using this, it's completely vanished.👍 .

So, what’s actually the difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin? Mine gets flaky in certain spots... which makes me think I might just be dealing with dryness, hmm?

Has anyone tried any of those new Garnier lotions meant for dry skin? I caught an ad for it today... was it a red tube??
