Screw your stupid questions. Let's just go to Spain. Send a link, I'm too lazy to look it up myself.

I wrote it out myself. The Americans picked Cologne as the host, and since we're heading there too, here's the breakdown.

The bracket is right there. If you look at the Americans in Cologne during the quarterfinals under "Match Germany," you'll see it. It's game number 81. They're playing against the Spaniards.
Now, if we're going to Cologne, our game will be number 82, on January 30th at 8:00 PM. We're up against the Frenchmen.
Then comes the Semifinals: Winner of 81 plays Winner of 82. So, if we manage to pull it off (fingers crossed π¬) against the French, we move on to play the winner of the USA-Spain match on February 1st at 5:30 PM, also in Cologne.
Anyway, that's how the luck of the draw fell for us.

Those Frenchmen just pulled it off out of nowhere against Tunisia! π€£ It was anyone's game until about 10 minutes left on the clock.

You were surprisingly calm when you replied to him, I'm actually shocked. π€£

Pretty sure we've crossed paths online before, haven't we?π

the one with the beer belly? π€£ oh yes, quite a colorful character, if I do say so myself...

Man, give me a break. They were up by five just three minutes ago! But hey, I guess that doesn't matter to them, right? Itβs probably like theyβve got the physical therapists, the assistants, and the third-stringers out there playing instead of the actual roster.

They don't care about the result; they're just playing for fun.

True, but man, imagine how much it'll sting if they end up taking the whole thing with three losses on their record while we get knocked out in the very first round! π¬ π¬

The schedule is right there. You see the Americans in Cologne for the quarterfinals under "Match GER"? That's game number 81. They're playing against the Spaniards.
So, if we're going to Cologne, then weβre game number 82, on January 30th at 8:00 PM. We're facing the Frenchmen.
And then you've got the Semifinalsβwinner of 81 versus winner of 82. Basically, if we actually pull it off (once we get past π¬) against the French, we'll be playing the winner of Germany-Spain on February 1st at 5:30 PM, also in Cologne.
Anyway, that's how the luck of the draw turned out.
I still can't quite wrap my head around it. It's absolutely insane that the top two teams from the group meet all the way back in the semifinals.

But they aren't necessarily the top two yet. π¬ Everyone is just assuming the Americans will cruise past the Czechs, which would put them in second place behind us, leaving the Spaniards in thirdβwhich is probably why it feels so crazy to you since the Spaniards are sitting in second right now. But let's be real: those Americans are struggling against the Czechs, and right now it's a dead heat at 15-15. If the Americans end up getting knocked out, they'll run into the Swabians, and then the Spaniards get handed a much easier path on the other side of the bracket. Now *that* would actually be infuriating. π

Man, you are totally out of touch with reality. That's all I've got to say about that.

Theyβre actually resting their star players, unlike us.π

I wouldn't say that. We actually got some decent rest yesterday and today. We crushed both games while just messing around and having a blast. We absolutely tore through both their goalies, got Laco and DΕΎomba playing at their peak, and gave BaliΔ and Vori a break. Damn MetliΔiΔ, thoughβit sucks because the guy is basically irreplaceable if he's not on the field.π’

I hadn't really thought about it, but if our guys had actually lost, would they have ended up facing the Germans instead? If that's the case, I honestly think playing the French would be the better option, especially since the tournament is being held right there in Germany...

Man, everyone here is obsessing over the USA vs. Germany game, so I guess I got caught up in the hype too...

Sam Murphy said:I haven't been following closely, but if our guys lost, would they be playing against the Germans?
Pretty damn likely.π

Itβs true that the current tournament format feels inherently unfair, and honestly, I can't help but feel we'd be much better off with the classic group stage setup where you have four teams per group and then just the top two move on to the knockout rounds...
