MP3 normalization: thoughts?

I’ve got a collection of MP3s that I’m planning to burn onto an actual audio CD, mostly so I can play them in my car without relying on a USB port or Bluetooth.

1) What’s the best way to normalize the volume levels? I’d really like to avoid that annoying situation where one track is whisper-quiet and the next one practically blows my eardrums out.

2) When I'm using Nile to convert these MP3s into an audio CD format, how do I make sure the song titles and artist names actually carry over correctly?

Look, I’m going to have to ask you to be a bit more specific here. If I had any idea what was actually going on, I wouldn't be asking questions in the first place.
For instance, am I supposed to be doing this through Nero Burning ROM or something else entirely? Where exactly am I supposed to go, and what am I looking for?

Look, if you aren't actually looking to tweak anything in that Express version, just fire up the standard Nero Burning ROM and handle everything there. It’s much easier—you’ve got a dedicated tab for normalization where you can set your specific percentage, plus a separate tab for the audio tracks to deal with CD Text and track naming syntax... my only real thought is that you'll need to make sure your MP3 files have the right tags ready to go.

I know there’s some software out there specifically for normalizing MP3 files, but the name escapes me right now. It’s pretty fast, though.

Actually, Not Nero has everything you're looking for.

The only catch is that you really need all your MP3s to be properly organized first. You can't have one track with no ID3 tags and another one cluttered with way too much metadata...

As for normalization:

You just select New audio CD and then drag in the tracks you want...

You probably already know that part.

Okay, so then you right-click a song if you want to PLAY (listen to it)

If it sounds too quiet, just right-click it to bring up the menu and select PROPERTIES. Once that AUDIO TRACK PROPERTIES window pops up, you can change the title or even trim the track. Just go to the EQUALIZER section and slide that main bar up to boost the volume, or down if you need to quiet it.

There are plenty of other options in there, too.

So yeah, just a quick right-click on the song and you're set.
