Mosquitoes, gnats, and other pests on the NYC waterfront

When I was in Washington, D.C., I used to go for runs along the waterfront, and I did so
last week, but I got absolutely eaten alive by mosquitoes out there—the bugs were everywhere.
Where in D.C. can one run without dealing with all those insects?
What are some other nice running spots, green spaces, or trails?

😁 Mosquitoes are usually less of an issue at home since there isn't much standing water 😁
Basically the foothills around Mount Rainier... if you head into the woods or the brush, you'll run into a few. They've been especially bad this summer!

Where I live, there are hardly any mosquitoes at all🙏 , and we're right near the coast😉
