The best Asterix story ever is Asterix Legionnaire. Honestly, the only other time I’ve seen that level of pure comedic genius was in Alan Ford, specifically during the Die Rich Uncle episode.
Here are my top five all-time favorite comic moments—the ones where I wasn't just laughing, but actually crying for ten minutes straight because they were so ridiculous:
1. Gaston, when he's tearing the entire office apart looking for some duct tape, not realizing it's stuck right to his own leg. I actually forgot about this one for years, then stumbled upon it again and ended up sobbing with laughter, pounding my fist against the mattress at Hide-and-Seeker's face in that final panel.
2. Alan Ford, that opening scene in the Golf episode with the knife sharpener and the butcher.
3. Gaston, pulling up under a scaffold in his car. "Sorry I scuffed your ride a little. Name's Gaston..."
4. Hogar, when a knight in full armor gets blasted by a ram mid-field and calmly mentions he’s going to have to replace his entire rear axle.
5. Garfield, there's this one gag with three flower pots on a windowsill, but man, I can't track down which issue it was in anymore...
Bonus: Alan Ford, Die Rich Uncle, specifically the part where the lawyer is in court dealing with Bob Rock. And honestly, that bit about the ugly women at the party in that same issue is pretty close to the top too.
