Today's top list of annoyances:

3. gnats by the riverbank
2. just installed NHL 06 and I have zero clue what's going on—I don't know which teams are actually good, what all those abbreviations mean, the controls are a mess, and I can't figure out how to manage the roster... even though the gameplay looks awesome.

The ultimate checklist if you want to be considered a true indie snob:

1. Spend your mornings scrolling through Pitchfork and only downloading albums that score at least a 7.5
2. Tell everyone else that Pitchfork is total garbage written by clueless elitists, and swear that if anyone gave *you* the keys to a music site, you’d actually do it right...
3. Look down on any band that manages to sell more than 500,000 copies
4. Memorize every single track on a Sonic Youth album and stubbornly insist that *Psychic Hearts* is way better than anything they ever released
5. Be in a band with a punctuation mark in the name (bonus points for an exclamation point!), know how to play one Pavement song (badly), and have a female bassist—because if you're a woman, god forbid, you *have* to be that bassist.

I am quite pleased to find that—according to Adam Moore’s particular scale of measurement—I haven't quite crossed over into being a total indie snob... which is a relief, really...

Let’s not spend our energy churning out endless, uninspired lists that we've all heard a thousand times before.

Here are seven songs that are absolute mood-killers when someone tries to play them on an acoustic guitar at a party (in no particular order):

1. Walking on Sunshine
2. Wild World
3. To Be With You
4. Born in the U.S.A.
5. Hotel California
6. Born to Run
7. Something from the mid-70s era

Two ways to absolutely wreck a guitar at a party

1. Smash it straight onto the floor
2. Take it out on whoever started playing first

Here are my top 5 picks for songs you can strum on the guitar at a house party (in no particular order):

1. 4"33"
2. anything by Half Japanese
3. basically anything by The Killers, as long as we don't touch "Mr. Brightside" or "All These Things That I've Done"
4. "Born to Run"
5. some deep cuts from the Bajaga catalog, maybe something from his early days

So, did they perform surgery to remove your sense of irony? I don't know—personally, I’d find that pretty tragic. 😢

Dammit, I'm switching over to Spiket. 😬
