Absolutely. We’re looking at a race between The Revenant and The Martian for an Oscar—another classic DiCaprio vs Damon showdown. Personally, I think Spotlight is probably the best of the bunch. Either way, let's all root against the crowd behind that tedious The Revenant. ☕

I honestly think Leo is due for an Oscar this time—maybe even last year—since I felt M.M.'s performance was just okay, nothing out of the ordinary. It’s about time the whole drama between Leo and AMPAS finally reaches a resolution, isn't it? I really need to sit down and watch Spotlight; everything else I've seen lately has felt a bit... meh.

As for the Golden Globes 2016, I have to say Gervais was absolutely brilliant!😁

Spotlight and The Big Short have certainly gained some momentum, though I suspect it’s being heavily manufactured by the studios. While The Martian is an enjoyable enough ride, it functions more as a comedy than a serious drama—Matt Damon’s performance, in particular, leans quite heavily into the comedic side of things.

Come on, Sly, let’s go get that Oscar. :klap:

This is just confirmation that he isn't getting the Oscar. It’s pretty obvious now. History shows plenty of times where a Golden Globe is handed out as a consolation prize, only for the Oscar to go to someone else entirely. Sure, some actors sweep both in the same year, but in this case, it looks like they gave Leo the Golden Globe just to keep him happy while the Oscar goes to someone else.

The pressure from Leo's fanbase—both men and women obsessed with him—is just too much. I'm certain the Academy cut a deal to give Leo the Globe as a consolation prize while someone else takes the Oscar.

There isn't anyone else even in the running this year. I'd bet the odds on a sportsbook would be sitting right around 1.10 for them to take it all.

Come on, Leo, can we please just stop this whole trend of acting like every mediocre actor is some kind of legend?

I had a feeling this thread would turn into the same endless loop of pointless arguments about the exact same things over and over again.

There are various different award boards out there, and I highly doubt they’re sitting down to coordinate their votes directly. However, while it isn't exactly a case of forced competition, you still have the inevitable tension between Leo, Fassbender, and Damon.

The Golden Globes have turned into the biggest joke in the awards circuit. These aren't even real accolades.
