What a total letdown *The Martian* turned out to be. In my opinion, the cast of *The Big Short* was robbed just so people could focus on that objectively mediocre flick.

I honestly think Leonardo DiCaprio needs to grab an Oscar this year just to put this whole debate to rest. Kate is overrated too, and *The Revenant* was legitimately the best film among the current competition.

History shows plenty of times where a Golden Globe is handed out as a consolation prize, only for the Oscar to go to someone else entirely. Sure, some actors sweep both in the same year, but in this case, it looks like they gave Leo the Golden Globe just to keep him happy while the Oscar goes to someone else.

The pressure from Leo's fanbase—both men and women obsessed with him—is just too much. I'm certain the Academy cut a deal to give Leo the Globe as a consolation prize while someone else takes the Oscar.

I disagree. This is what, his third or fourth Golden Globe? Besides, the competition isn't even that strong this year. Leonardo DiCaprio is the frontrunner for the Oscar.

This is his third Golden Globe. I see he picked them up for Aviator and Wolf. Honestly, with Wolf, it’s pretty obvious those Golden Globes were just consolation prizes. Mark my words, once he fails to win an Oscar, you're going to see his fans absolutely lose their minds. 🤣

I'm convinced they'll pull it off this year.

On another note, I completely blanked on Jennifer Lawrence—that role was way overrated. She definitely didn't earn that Golden Globes nod.

The competition is just too weak, and that's the real issue. I'm reading that Michael Fassbender is good in Steve Jobs, but the movie doesn't grab me right now. If Eddie Redmayne takes it, that would actually be worse than Leo; those kinds of roles leave me feeling empty. I don't know about Christian Bale—I hear he's great, so maybe I'll check that out today. Personally, I think Matt Damon is better than Leonardo DiCaprio, but he's nowhere near an Oscar-worthy performance here. Mark Ruffalo was decent, but honestly, this year is just abysmal.

I think they'll finally settle things with him, though personally, I wouldn't mind if his fans' agony dragged on a little longer. 😬

Edward Ortiz77;56968543a The Revenant was truly among the best of the current competition.[/QUOTE said:

Christian Bale and Tina Fey are excellent in The Big Short. They outshine both Matt Damon and Michael Fassbender, and honestly, they even beat out Eddie Redmayne, who seemed to be aiming for a predictable, cookie-cutter Oscar role this year just to chase awards—but it fell flat. It’s pretty obvious that migrants and Mexicans are the big trend in Hollywood this year, with everyone trying to push a specific message right before the presidential election.

I guess Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were just much better; I didn't find any of the jokes particularly funny, to be honest.

I mean, Leonardo DiCaprio is definitely taking it home. Honestly, the Oscars have become such a joke anyway.

Ennio Morricone winning for the score is also a huge possibility. It’s wild how many of his absolute masterpieces didn't even get a nomination—probably mostly because he worked outside of the usual Hollywood circle—so now he’ll likely snag an Oscar for a soundtrack that’s actually pretty weak compared to his usual genius.

They only ever reward those gaudy, overproduced films—hopefully the Academy Awards will finally right this wrong.

I'm right there with you. It caught me off guard too, especially with Christian Bale—I really thought he was a lock for the >.

I have to agree here.
> is a fantastic film.

When it comes to the acting, there were definitely much better performances than >'s, even though she is a phenomenal actress.

I’m also still bummed that > didn't take home the win for animation
and that > missed out for >.

Usually, the two frontrunners for an Oscar end up being the person who won the Golden Globe for Comedy/Musical and the one who took it for Drama.
And more often than not, the winner comes from the drama category.
Take the year when it was Matthew McConaughey and Leonardo DiCaprio, or even last year with Eddie Redmayne and Michael Keaton.

The only upside if Leonardo DiCaprio wins is that people on the internet might finally stop claiming he needs at least five of them—because, let's be real, he's easily one of the best actors ever.🙄

Tina Fey is better than Matt Damon, and Christian Bale is great too, though I don't know if it's just me or if he actually had very little screen time in that movie. For me, Matt Damon takes the edge because he practically carried the whole thing on his back. And as much as some people here love to talk trash about The Martian, most of that criticism feels pretty baseless; the movie is solid.

Anyway, I'm disappointed that Spotlight and The Big Short missed out. They were easily the two best films of the year. Even if nothing else, The Big Short deserved at least Best Original Screenplay.

They’re beautiful, sure—but those pathetic, fake tears? Total act.

She was honestly just pathetic; the only decent part was when she finally ditched Lea.

Srsly? Calling The Martian a "comedy"? Please, Melcome? Zero points.

The most irritating woman in Hollywood. And don't even get me started on her band of fanboys.
