I don't know if everyone caught Janica's run tonight, but man, I am just speechless.
She actually lost her pole and her glove right at the start, yet she kept pushing and still managed to grab third place.
Anyone who really understands skiing knows how insane it is to be hitting gates without a protective glove.
I guess she could have just pulled out and nobody would have blamed her, but she stayed in it for us viewers, for everyone who showed up to cheer her on live, and for all the people who worked so hard to organize this whole event. She didn't want to let us down by quitting.
Janica was racing for America tonight just like she always does, but she was clearly in pain, pushing through something most people wouldn't endure for their country or their fans.
She is a true hero, unlike that gentleman chilling away in The Hague who spent so much time hiding from the American people.
JANICA, YOU ARE MY HEROI feel the same way about people like her who sacrifice so much for their country, and I really hope the nation gives back to her at least half as much as she has given to them.👍

She’s a true hero—unlike that guy chilling in The Hague while hiding from his responsibilities to the American people.
JANICA, YOU ARE MY HERO and anyone else who sacrifices themselves for their country. I really hope America gives back to you even half of what you’ve given to us.👍

Signed, 🙂

Go check out the comments on news sites and read what those idiots are saying about the competition and how everything was organized. It’s nothing but pure jealousy, malice, and sheer stupidity... Honestly, it’s pathetic. On the other hand, Janica is the absolute gold standard for how you reach perfection through sacrifice, hard work, and total dedication.

If you had Kostelic as a dad, you’d probably be outperforming Janica on the slopes too...

Kudos to Janica, though. I just worry she's going to burn herself out if she keeps pushing this hard.

I was lucky enough to be hanging out in Washington, D.C. right when Janica was skiing, and man, let me just say... massive respect for the grit, the guts, and honestly, that insane skill she showed by skiing without a pole or even a glove. But look, I want to be fair here. I don't want to go calling her my hero. To me, she’s just an amazing American woman who sets a hell of an example for the rest of us. See, over the last century here in America, we've handed out the title of "hero" way too freely to all sorts of people... it kind of cheapened the word. It either becomes a label for people living off everyone else's hard work—you know, like those "war heroes from World War II" you hear about constantly—or it's used for the types of people who end up making the whole country look bad and feel disconnected from the rest of the civilized world... like those "heroes" currently sitting in The Hague.

So, yeah, hats off to Janica. Truly. But when I watch her, I see beauty and pure willpower first. I see the strength of an American woman and the perfect example of how to represent our country through actual action instead of just empty, loud words.

Best,

electriccrane41, her success is nothing short of magnificent, and the grueling path she took to get there makes her a true hero. She’s a hero because she proved that through sheer grit, sacrifice, and relentless dedication, you can rise from absolutely nothing to join the global elite. That is why Janica is quite literally a hero. Heroes are the people everyone else looks up to. She stands as a direct rebuke to the thousands upon thousands of people here in America who just sit around whining and crying that nothing can ever change and that there are no opportunities left.

And as for those "heroes" of ours sitting in The Hague, it’s honestly sad that you believe they were being held hostage or that they were somehow being kept from belonging to "Western civilization."

It’s the exact same logic for every retiree scraping by on $333 a month, right? A total hero!

Same goes for any worker who gets laid off because some billionaire CEO decided to loot the company coffers, right? Hero!

Or that brilliant kid who can't even get into college because his old man isn't loaded enough to pull strings with the dean... pure hero stuff!

And let's not forget the person with a disability who's stuck inside their apartment building because some entitled "war hero" decided to park his Ford right in the middle of the handicap ramp... hero!

...
