At the end of the day, it’s not actually IMPORTANT how someone handles a guitar. What REALLY matters is this:
1) Creativity. Hendrix had those massive number one hits—Satch didn't.
2) Having actual taste. I mean, playing with melody rather than just mindless shredding and showing off...
Frusciante knows how to craft incredible pop-rock and funky tracks that actually become hits—neither Vai nor Satch quite grasp that. Honestly, Vai should have just stuck to playing with d. L. Roth; that would have been more than enough.
But Jimi? He knew how to write beautiful songs, and that is exactly why people love and respect him so much! 👍
