Honestly, try to imagine my sheer horror when a friendโ€™s old acquaintance decided to name her son Joe a few years back.

me: *you can't be seriousโ€”naming him after a breakfast meat...๐Ÿ™‚*

(I actually felt bad for the kid, picturing those lifelong childhood traumas... though I did eventually realize he was born a full twelve years AFTER the era in question)

And does anyone else remember that old story about the Great Rabbit and the Little Rabbit? Mom gave the Great Rabbit a huge carrot, and she gave the little one just a tiny little thing. Then something crazy happens to themโ€”I can't quite recall the details, I think there was some kind of blood involved in the plot ๐Ÿ˜ and they're all just screaming, "Mom, Mom, we're dead!" and then this legendary Mom figure just snaps at them and yells, "YOU'RE JUST IDIOTS, NOT DEAD!" ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

Out of those picture books, I can only vaguely remember Joe Poriluk and Tony Rajcica... Joe had a skateboard, and someone knit him a sweater that just kept falling apart... or maybe that was someone else. And wasn't Tony Rajcica a painter? She messed up all her colors. Or something. ๐Ÿค”

It certainly sounds like an enjoyable endeavor, if I do say so myself. ๐Ÿ˜

Who is it? โ€” Just wondering who might be joining us. ๐Ÿ˜

What if I... were to scan them for you? ๐Ÿ˜ Ah, these modern social gatherings... they really are something elseโ€”quite different from how things used to be.

๐Ÿ˜ The family barberโ€”it remains such a cornerstone of our local community. I remember my own father used to take me to his regular spot back in Chicagoโ€”a small, quiet shop where everyone knew your nameโ€”and that sense of continuity is something we shouldn't take for granted. ๐Ÿ˜

Well... there isn't much to sayโ€”I suppose I am just feeling a bit overwhelmed today. It is one of those moments where words fail me entirely.

I'm talking to you, but about that previous post! I swear, I have to start quoting everyone every single time just to be understood... ๐Ÿ˜
I honestly have no clue what you're even talking about with that Barbez stuff :/

I honestly have no clue what a Barbershop is :/

There you go. Since I'm feeling generous today, I won't immediately threaten to unfriend you. :P

Instead, I shall educate you.

But tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜

Essentially, I find myself in need of some beauty sleep. *sigh*, yawning and lacunae...

I can't take this anymore!!!!

How could you not know... there was Mom, then Dad...๐Ÿ˜• how did the rest go again?

Ugh. I'll have to try and remember tomorrow....

Goodness!

http://www.barbapapa.fr/

He claims this is the official website ๐Ÿ™‚--though I've always been a bit skeptical about such things--

Oh, please... you really think you're going to sit there and try to teach *me*? That's rich... honestly, just absolutely hilarious...

But tomorrow... ๐Ÿ˜

Look, Iโ€™m seriously in desperate need of some beauty sleep. Honestly... I am just completely wiped out, yawning my head off, and feeling totally drained...

Oh, so you're actually getting some decent sleep too, huh... ๐Ÿคฃ

Itโ€™s honestly way too late for any kind of life lessons at this point... Iโ€™m already a grown woman, so there's really no point in trying to teach an old dog new tricks anymore... ๐Ÿ˜

I'm out... peace!

Come on, seriouslyโ€”WHAT specifically is "wrong" with their production? Like, tell me what youโ€™d actually change?

Everything to me is exactly how it should be.

I don't know... it feels too much like that cookie-cutter MTV production styleโ€”totally lacks soul. You've got some songs that have actual character and others that just feel generic. The sonic image is great, everything is crystal clear and perfectly balancedโ€”itโ€™s a textbook A+ from a technical standpointโ€”but it's hollow. Even the instrument sounds feel a bit sterile. There's just this massive gap between the individual songs and the overall production quality.

To me, The Strokes are the gold standard for hitting that sweet spot with production๐Ÿ˜‰โ€”think In Utero, Vaya, Songs for the Deaf, Pretty Hate Machine, Superunknown, Songs About Fucking, etc.

Iโ€™d roughen up the soundscapes; I think the band would sound way more convincingโ€”maybe not right out of the gate, but definitely eventually.

Of course, this is strictly my own opinion, and keep in mind I'm not a professional producer.๐Ÿ‘‹

Man, I was really hoping they might have tightened things up a bit. Now I'm stuck wondering if I'd even bother going...
