Besides, he’s one of those writers who actually stays relevant even as you get older. Reading the required stuff in high school was way more engaging when you had "The 100 Greatest Holes" as a supplemental guide.😬

My top books from when I was fourteen? Hold on, let me think... that would’ve been back in 1984, seventh grade... I definitely know what I was obsessed with back then. It probably looked something like this:
Gabriel García Márquez - One Hundred Years of Solitude
Bradbury - tattoo man Grass - tin drum third river bank
Grass - tin drum third river bank
Third River Bank, a collection of Latin American short stories
Paul Tabar - art of fooling around

Even though I spent most of my time sulking by myself or reading humorists—mostly Sholem Aleichem, and a bit of my Kapor—I’d already tackled my first King novel. I was starting to get really into Georges Simenon, too. Back in high school, I basically had half the library from Centaur sitting on my shelf, and I was a die-hard follower of Sirius (right around the time Gibson showed up, giving me even more stuff to obsess over). On trips to Washington, D.C., if I wasn't digging through vinyl at the flowerbed (I was buying Animals, Eric Clapton, Straits, Led Zeppelin), I’d be scouring the old bookstores looking for some Zane Grey novel I hadn't gotten my hands on yet.

Basically, if we're going by Nicholas Perez33's standards, I was (and still am) a total idiot.

4. Discovering alcohol... way too early; honestly, better to have started drinking later
5. Biting my nails (thank God I finally kicked that habit)
