Old movie, but easily one of my favorites—both for the story and the script. People get hung up on the fact that it was inspired by a Bono story, but I’m pretty sure he wasn't involved in much beyond the soundtrack...
One of Milla Jovovich's better roles, plus you've got Mel Gibson playing a genius, not to mention Jeremy Davies as Tom Tom...

Wow... after Ijumped, it occurred to me:
life is perfect, life is everything.
It's full of magic and beauty...
opportunity and television.
And surprises. Tons of surprises, yeah.
And then there's that thing everyone craves...
but you only truly feel it once it's gone.
All of that just sort of hit me. I guess you don't really see things that clearly when you're...
you know... alive.

Bono is the only redeeming quality in this whole thing.. 🙂

Don't get me wrong.. it isn't a bad movie.. maybe a 3 out of 10 at best.. 👍

The only redeeming quality in that movie is the brilliant track by U2 - The Ground Beneath Her Feet👍

everything else is just total garbage👎 🙂 👋

The movie was just boring and mindless
I only sat through it because the description mentioned some SFa elements
That was back in the days when I actually used to judge movies based on the blurb on a VHS box—which, looking back, was a total waste of time...

Even elem and gel Mipson said the film was about as exciting as watching paint dry

Are we even talking about the same movie?

Eloise... she was someone worth living for.
And i guess that means something to die for.
A few people called her nothing more than a mindless slut, but I knew better. She wasn't dumb.

Watch it again.🙂

...hmmm...it feels like forever since I last watched it—like, way back in the day... though I definitely remember thinking it was just too sweet for its own good...🙂

...Milla Jovovich was stunning (honestly, she’s never been better—why did they stop casting her in those iconic roles? 😕), and there was just such a lovely vibe to it... plus, you've got that U2 title track from back when they actually had something to say musically (their old albums are genuine art, whereas the newer stuff is just boring mainstream pop... still, I love Bono... and the fact that they frequently collaborate with Anton Corbijn 😍, who is clearly obsessed with them, earns them some extra points in my book 🙂)...

...man, I’d really love to give it another watch. I'll have to find some time in my schedule...🙂

...honestly, I'd love to rewatch it... gotta find the time...🙂

Finally, someone who appreciates this movie 👍 you've restored my faith in humanity 👋

Man, "The Plaza Hotel" is such a fantastic movie! Wim Wenders really knows how to work his magic behind the camera, and honestly, Mel Gibson totally crushed it here—he proved he can handle much heavier, more complex roles that might be a little harder for a casual viewer to wrap their head around!

Finally! At least you and Amanda Lopez50 managed to say something decent about this one.
But... good grief, where have you guys been hiding? It took you long enough...

We're living in this Beautiful country of The United States of America,so everybody gets to vote.
You have two letters on all these pieces of paper, right?
There's a "Y" and an "N". The "Y" stands for why, and the "N" stands for why not.

Look, I’ve always felt that Wim Wenders is a straight-up genius behind the camera
. His absolute masterpiece, if you ask me, has to be Wings of Desire. Seriously, go watch it if you ever get the chance—it's something else.
The Plaza Hotel was also a really solid flick.

It was an okay movie, but honestly, I’d say it’s probably the weakest film from Steven Spielberg...

I am absolutely obsessed with The Plaza Hotel! 😍 That blend of visuals and music just totally hooked me, and honestly, the story is so sweet because it doesn't try too hard—it’s just simple and funny. I usually find that you really need to be in love to fully "get" it, and personally, I can't stand those mushy, sappy romance plots, but I actually didn't mind this one. So, I guess it’s a winner. 🙂

Stroneheim’s 'Greed' holds far more intrigue than this lackluster excuse for a film... it's tedious and frankly pretentious... even Steven Spielberg has directed better days than this.

I’m curious to hear from anyone else who’s seen it. I just caught a review claiming the movie is exhausting. And honestly? They aren't wrong.
It’s all about the atmosphere!
There’s just something about it.
The score definitely does a lot of the heavy lifting here.
What makes it feel magical? I think if you have even a slight capacity for abstract thought, you can dive right into the headspace and emotions of the leads—Eloise and Tom Cruise. Don't you agree?
To be fair, the plot is pretty thin and the acting is mediocre, but everything else is sublime. As for what "everything else" entails... I'll let you all decide.

I gave it a shot, but I ended up dropping it pretty quickly... You're right though, it's just a bit too much to take in at once 🙂

I'm heading home tonight around 10:10 PM to pick up some cash, and I know my wife will probably be a bit cranky because of the movie we watched. I'll sit down for just fifteen minutes, but honestly, that film was absolutely incredible.

Mel Gibson plays this freak who ends up at a hotel full of total lunatics—it's like a whole cast hand-picked by Quentin Tarantino. Plus, you've got a totally unhinged Milla Jovovich who somehow manages to be hot despite the crazy role, so honestly, what's not to like?😁

I watched it again last night and seriously, you might be right about it being intense, but that damn atmosphere just drags you in. I can't even explain it, but both times I couldn't look away...

It’s a different kind of love story, I guess. Those twisted characters really make you want to give it another shot. I mean, who else would watch another flick where Tom Hanks is secretly pining for Michelle Pfeiffer while they live in some building where a murder happens, and then you've got this perfectly sane FBI detective played by Morgan Freeman trying to crack the case?😁

Wim Wenders, music by U2, Milla, Mel Gibson... it was basically set up to be good.
