...so it's unlikely that "Capote" will make its way to our local screens anytime soon—if it ever shows up at all...😢

Really great movie

They already did a press screening for this, so it’ll probably drop any second now—maybe even today. I’m just waiting on confirmation before I get too hyped...

The movie is solid, PSH is great, NBA is top-tier, everything works. Guess since it isn't a biopic they didn't have to follow some boring template... Personally, I'd put it right behind Crash for my second favorite of the five Best Picture nominees...

If you view the movie strictly as a playing-ground for Dustin Hoffman—fine. Otherwise—not so much. The director's stance toward the protagonist becomes obvious almost immediately, and then he just hammers it home over and over again—which allows Hoffman to shine, sure, but it’s a total snooze fest from a dramatic standpoint.

I’m such a klutz—I honestly thought this was going to be a full-on Truman Capote biography, you know? Like, actually featuring him hanging out at Studio 54 and all that. But then... 🙂 Well, look, I couldn't focus for the first 45 minutes, but things definitely pick up after that. My biggest issue was just trying to follow what he was saying (which was most of the movie) because his voice and tone are so unique—plus, there was a ton of buzzing and crackling audio. Honestly, the only thing that really let me down was Capote himself. His pretentious little remarks just got on my nerves—was it just me?

Caught this one in Chicago this past Friday. Honestly? It didn't do much for me—just nothing special. Neither the direction nor the acting really landed. 👎

Luckily, I caught a satellite biography on Truman Capote, so I actually know a thing or two about him now.
Capote had this weird way of talking, but what we see in this movie is just pure pretension.

The film is alright, I guess. I still need to sit down and watch Brokeback Mountain to decide which one actually holds up better.

The acting was actually brilliant. I nearly marched right up to the screen and punched Truman Capote in the face just because he was getting on my nerves so much...😬
