Hey everyone, I know these albums are considered absolute classics, but I just can't seem to wrap my head around them:
1. Lou Reed - Berlin (The songwriting feels pretty mediocre to me, and honestly, Brian Eno's production and those orchestral arrangements are a total nightmare) 😱
2. Ramones - End of the Century (It feels like Phil Spector got lost somewhere trying to implement that Wall of Sound; maybe he improved it a bit, but the material mostly sounds like a collection of fillers)
3. That second album by Peking Duck we were talking about earlier. I think Dr. Zelig already covered everything, except perhaps for that one idiot's idea to run a flanger/phaser effect over the hi-hat and just leave it running through the entire album. It reminds me of that old fable about the mouse and the hi-hat 🙂
4. Beach Boys - Pet Sounds. Looking at it from a bird's-eye view, the arrangements are legendary and the production is top-tier, blah blah blah—but if I actually pick out individual songs, I maybe like two or three of them
5. Paraff. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's bad; it's actually quite pleasant, but I just don't find it as good as everyone else does
I left out the artists I actively dislike because, well, a list like that wouldn't really make much sense, would it? 🙂
