The five costliest hurricanes in US history:

1. Katrina (2005)
2. Andrew (1992)
3. Charlie (2004)
4. John (2004)
5. Frances (2004)

Just waiting on Wilma.

Trivia: before '79, they only used female names. Now they alternate—one male, one female—following alphabetical order. That’s why you see Arlene in the summer and Wilma late in the fall. They cycle through every six years.

This year's list included:

Arlene
Bret
Cindy
Dennis
Emily
Franklin
Gert
Harvey
Irene
Jose
Katrina
Lee
Maria
Nate
Ophelia
Philippe
Rita
Stan Tammy
Tammy
Vince Wilma
Wilma

Well, I clearly lack your killer sense of humor and lightning-fast wit; I suppose I'll just have to compensate with being a nerd.

oh man, here we go again... 🙂

stormyviper11 said:New Yorkers 👎
are alright, but honestly, people from Philly are the only ones who actually get under my skin🙂
(not talking about the girls though, I actually dig their vibe when they're fired up)

Look, you’re a guy, so your perspective is totally skewed 😬, women from Philly are just as annoying—if not more—so let's just chalk that whole thing up to that big-city attitude syndrome☕

You’re totally right about me being a guy and having zero vision here 😬. Honestly, girls from Austin are just as annoying, if not more, but let’s just chalk that up to big city syndrome ☕
.

You’re 100% spot on about me being a dude and missing the point. If anyone actually gave a damn about how we're all getting played, this wouldn't even be interesting. We just defend ourselves by acting like selfish, total pieces of trash. And then there's the whole polygamy thing.

But personally, I think it's pretty funny when those girls from the Midwest try to pick up our local slang. You can mess with them a bit, and they end up blushing and getting all embarrassed. At least with the ones I've run into.
The New York accent sounds kind of cute on them too, until they start acting like absolute posers.
I don't know if they even realize how much they sound like total pansies when they do that.

I honestly don't know if they realize how unmanly they actually sound?!

Oh, I wouldn't go that far! I guess some of them might even be under the impression that they sound totally manly. 😁

Polygamy? What are you, some Mormon? 😬

Hmm, now that I actually sit here and think about it... there’s just something about that thick West Coast accent on guys that really does it for me, it's somehow 😳
😍

(And no, I’m not from California, just so we're clear 😬 )

The whole thing about having a "soft C" or a "soft G" is driving me absolutely insane... take someone like John Doe, for example. It’s just a total disaster...😬 😁 😁

If we ever actually meet, I’m making you pass a litmus test first: try saying "Ivan Blažicko" without tripping over your own tongue 😬

And honestly, people from the West Coast generally can't wrap their heads around basic accents or nuances in spelling 🙏 🙏 🙏
They act like they're some elite tech geniuses at Google or Apple just because they ditch all the proper punctuation and accents when they type, hiding behind this whole "it's just programmer habit" excuse or whatever social nonsense they use to justify being lazy 🙂

But what really gets my blood boiling is seeing these butchered sentence structures:
"If you're gonna come by, I'll bring you a CD"🙏

Why am I getting singled out here along with everyone else—including me, some random kid from Chicago—just because of how I talk? 🙂

lonebison37 said:If we ever actually meet up, my first test for you will be seeing if you can even pronounce "Ivan Blažičko" correctly 😬

Oh, and honestly, people from the East Coast generally have no clue how to handle specific accent marks or subtle pronunciations 🙏 🙏 🙏
They usually just make excuses about being software engineers to justify skipping those details—it’s all just habit and social pressure, I guess 🙂

And man, the sentence structures they use really get to me:
"If you're gonna come over, I'll bring you a CD" (but phrased in that weirdly broken way)🙏

Well, if we're being honest, even folks from the South don't really get those distinctions either. To them, those tiny linguistic nuances are just as confusing as they are to people from Chicago. Just ask Alex Rogers91 or anyone else; it seems like nobody actually knows, but I certainly do! I always pulled straight A's on my English essays because of it. 😁

I honestly never understood why people make such a massive deal out of minor spelling nuances or those tiny accent marks. It’s all just noise at this point.

Anyway, here is my unofficial ranking of singers who seem most likely to actually hold their breath underwater for a ridiculous amount of time (my best guess):

1. Thom Yorke (just look at that music video for No Surprises; plus those final "away" notes in Rabbit in Your Headlights)
2. Axl Rose (think about the raw emotion in Don't Cry, especially that howling during the climax of the song)
3. Velina (honestly, after hearing Sheri Sheri blasting on Z1 tonight, I feel like her lung capacity deserves some recognition)

3. Adele (I mean, come on, when Z1 played "Rolling in the Deep" tonight, it was a total moment that shouldn't be ignored)

but honestly, I’m noticing she isn't even at the top of my list. kind of a disgrace, really 😳

If you actually read this within the context of the thread, you'll see why. She’s not number one because she can't hold a note any longer than Axl Rose or Thom Yorke could.
As for who might take third? Honestly, nobody comes to mind, unless you count Shane MacGowan during one of his more... intense moments.
