Zanardi is officially going down in the history books

Alex Zanardi just snagged his first win in the FIA World Touring Car Championship.

After losing both legs in that brutal accident during the IndyCar series opener at Lausitzring—man, that was heavy—Zanardi fought his way back and got right back behind the wheel. He’s been racing a custom-built BMW specifically modified for him in the WTCC.

August 28th in Oshersleben—it was pure magic—Zanardi pulls off that first victory.

I’ll admit, I wasn't exactly a fan back in the day—hehe, I was pulling for Greg Moore then—but seriously, hats off to the man!

Keeping his cool despite the massive rush, Zanardi managed to crack a sarcastic joke:
"I think I'm officially bonded to Germany. After all those blood transfusions they gave me here, I've got more German blood in me than Italian!" 😁

All I can say is hats off to Zanardi. 🙏 🙏

👍 Man, it’s such a shame he joined Williams right when things were going south. Back at Lotus, the guy looked just as talented as Hakkinen. Honestly, his performance there just proves what a beast he really is...

I’ll be honest, I don't really follow much besides Formula 1, but I’d occasionally tune in if a race was on ESPN or something. I actually stumbled upon a race on satellite the other day, and it happened to be that exact one where Zanardi had his accident!
Man, my heart just sank for him... losing both legs is just devastating. My first thought was, "Dude, this guy lives for racing, what happens now?" Like, his whole world just flips upside down because of a shock like that, and knowing he can't get back behind the wheel again—which is probably the hardest part—it just felt heavy. But man, am I glad I was wrong about how things turned out!! Such a bummer I missed the actual win because my satellite signal cut out on me, but all I can say is
