1. Medica

Good grief,
I occasionally bring some into the office—it disappears instantly.
It’s best during the winter months when everyone is dealing with colds; people tend to skip the alcohol like fools, but Medica works—the brandy disinfects, and the honey soothes a nasty sore throat.😁

I think even Bisca deserves a mention. 😉

Speaking of home remedies, a buddy from California sent me his recipe, so I’m definitely going to try my hand at making it!

All you really need to do is grab some honey and find a local producer who still makes their own vine cuttings, so basically...🙂

All you really need to do is buy some decent honey and grab some of the old-school infusions they make, and then...🙂

I’ve tried "brewing" it a few times myself—but honestly, none of my batches ever hit quite like the stuff you get poured for you in Pittsburgh.
It all comes down to the honey you use. If you go with chestnut honey, it turns this deep, golden-amber color that, personally, I find much better than using other types. And obviously, it depends heavily on the quality of the moonshine you're mixing it with. It’s a disaster if you use that cheap swill you pick up at a roadside stand near $4.25

I reckon you ought to take a quick trip up to San Francisco on a White Sunday, sample about 30 different strains, and then give us your expert opinion.😁

It really all comes down to the honey you're using—if you go with chestnut honey, you get this deep, golden glow that I personally think beats out any other variety. Plus, you can't ignore the spirit you're mixing it with; it's a total game-changer. The worst thing you can do is try it with some cheap moonshine from a roadside stand near $4.25

Someone once told me you should EXCLUSIVELY use acacia honey for this.
And for the spirit? Grape brandy.

Wait, what roadside stand? I forgot my old man actually distills his own stuff right at home🙂 :bilogora:

Nature made me tough; all I need now is a shot of moonshine🙂

The top three ways people have misheard or butchered Chris Coppel’s last name:

1. Grasshopper
2. Little poo-poo
3. Kawasaki

...honestly, nobody even thought of "KAKAV AS!"

Anyway, hey Caseys, you want Uncle Chris to swing by again this year? 🙂
Or did that absolute train wreck of a visit at his last show totally kill his vibe?
😢

Here’s one from my book: back at an Album Leaf show, some guy in the crowd shouted, "No play—no Leaf!" right after the second encore. Just pure chaos. 😁
+On a side note—thanks for giving me third place, Sigov. Coming from you, the self-appointed king of this forum, that actually means something. 😉 👍
Honestly, though, I thought Sig's bit from Deathless was better, specifically when he brought up that weird story about the rabbit and the eggs... or whatever the hell happened there. 🤔

Just another little memory from the KSET days: back when Make Say Think used to play there. After one of their shows, I ended up chatting with their guitarist—he looked absolutely wrecked, maybe Justin Small? The guy with the blue hair. I wanted to pick up an album and asked him for a recommendation. He spent about ten minutes just agonizing over it, struggling to light a cigarette while he weighed his options, before finally settling on: "Grab *Goodbye Enemy Airship*... we sound best on that one." I didn't regret it for a second. 😍

It would be great if they visited us again soon... though hopefully not under circumstances like the Gesundheit tour.

As for Gesundheit, it makes you wonder... seeing them again wouldn't be a bad thing either.🙂

Actually, no... 🙂
you can't even put those two in the same category.
I just tried Googling to see which forum regulars are actually playing in Gesundheit, but I came up empty. Help me out here. I know they aren't all identical, but isn't this supposed to be more like a little side project for that trumpet player?

I’m not sure what you were getting at, but I’d personally rather catch DMST. As for the lineup for Health, I haven't really followed it because I wasn't feeling great back then... Not interested in witty indie rockers playing quasi-death metal. It’s much better to just see Napalm Death 🙂 instead. I'd go see Napalm Death again. Or Obituary. And The Hives 🙂

As for who’s playing in Gesundheit, I haven't a clue—I was feeling pretty under the weather back then, so I skipped it. Honestly, those witty indie rockers who try to play quasi-death metal just don't do it for me. I’d much rather head to a Napalm Death show, for instance 🙂. I’d go see Napalm Death again in a heartbeat. Or Obituary. Or even The Hives 🙂.

Yeah, I totally misread you; I thought you were saying you wanted to hear Gesundheit again. I’m right there with you regarding death metal and that ridiculous trumpet player running through the crowd—I have no idea why they feel the need to do that. Maybe it's just some sort of frantic outlet for them...
So, basically: get DMST to New York ASAP! 🙂

Top 5 food names that drive me absolutely nuts:

1. sandwich (people who can't even spell it right... and trust me, using the English word doesn't make it taste any better)
2. American donuts (what's wrong with a classic jelly donut without a hole in the middle?)
3. crepes de New York City 🙄 (they're just pancakes!)
4. gyros (doesn't matter how they spell it in Greece, we all ended up stuck with the anglicized version anyway)
5. that shitty Italian term for flatbread

Yeah, right. And those spikes... "you want a mask? I'll give you a mask," or whatever.

The DMV is already calling back to year three. They wouldn't want to hear any of that noise in New York again if they had the choice. Pure fantasy.
