How should a Friday fast actually look? And I don't mean the religious kind, just one strictly for health benefits.

What should you be drinking? Like, is it just water, some kind of juice, or what?

Honestly, a Friday post ought to be shorter and much easier to digest. You should probably try typing it out with just one hand, if only to be considerate of everyone else's mental health while they're reading it... 😉

🙂

hell, he can use both hands for all I care—honestly, at this point, it's more about how many fingers he's got left to type with... 👍

Ugh... seriously, don't even start with me... 😉

I'm just trying to figure out what a post should actually look like if someone decides to go on a diet like this just one day a week.

Oh, come on, be for real here.

If you decide you're skipping food one day a week, then just... don't eat on that day!!! I mean, what kind of "advice" are you actually looking for when it comes to fasting?

What I am actually trying to figure out—and bear with me here—is what an ideal meal plan would look like if someone decided to commit to this kind of diet just one day a week.

Look, if you are truly hell-bent on making a post about this, my advice is simple: stick to water and maybe some unsweetened tea. Just nothing else! No juices, no coffee, and absolutely no alcohol. There. That's it. 🥳

Don't eat a thing. Stick strictly to water.
Alternatively,
just drink fruit juices.
Or even better,
go with vegetable juices.

You'll figure out what works for you.
As for me, fasting just isn't in my DNA.🙄 It’s healthy, sure, but it doesn't suit me.
Sad story.😁

If you’re basically sitting on the couch all weekend just crushing massive family dinners and junk food, then honestly... fasting on Mondays would be a total game changer for your health.
It’s like a way better way to detox your system instead of just setting yourself up for another massive binge right after the weekend madness.
I’ve been doing the Monday fast for years now, and I don't even touch juices or teas... just straight water and whatever else I can get away with.
It was a struggle at first because you feel absolutely famished, but honestly, you just chug a couple glasses of water and you'll be fine...
This routine works wonders for me, seriously—I don't have to deal with weight issues or cellulite at all.

Is this for health reasons?

I don't eat or drink anything at all until later in the afternoon, and then I just have something light to get my digestive system moving... You definitely shouldn't go overboard with big meals because it can be really hard on your body. Basically, you just graze a little bit here and there, keeping it very minimal, and if you can stick to that for a few days, it’s even better... It’s much healthier for your gut...

And why exactly is that supposed to be good for your gut health?

Look, I should probably clarify one thing, even if it’s not really central to the point. For religious reasons, Fridays are meatless days, not fasting days. You don't eat meat, obviously, but fish doesn't count as "meat." Actual fasting only happens a handful of times a year during major holidays.
I stick to that tradition myself—you could call it religious, but honestly, it just works for me. And it's not just Fridays; I also skip meat on Tuesdays (around here, Tuesday is another meatless day for religious reasons).
So, it all boils down to making sure I eat things like fish, cheese, or mushrooms instead of meat. Sure, I slip up occasionally because it's not some rigid rule I'm bound by, but when the tradition is already there, I find it easy enough to embrace those two days a week.
I can't give you some generic recipe or tell you it's "good for this" or "good for that." At the end of the day, you have to see what your own body can handle.
Personally, I couldn't survive a day on just water and some light snack; my system isn't built for that. I don't have much of a reserve ( 😁 ), so if I don't eat enough, I start feeling pretty terrible. Your situation might be different. You really have to find the specific way that works for you—everyone else's experience won't help you much in the long run.

A few years back, I tried that moon diet thing. As far as I could tell, it was basically just like that Friday post, except it only happened once a month.

That day, I stuck to nothing but water and sugar-free gum, and honestly, I nearly passed out after a couple of attempts. I just couldn't handle it—I'm not built to go without eating all day long. And guess what? I didn't lose a single pound (which was the whole damn point of the diet).

Bottom line: I was being an idiot. But this fruit juice idea? I might actually give that a shot. 👋

Are you actually sure fasting is even healthy?
A lot of things we once labeled as "wellness trends" turned out to be total nonsense.
I suspect fasting might be on that list.

There’s a different way to look at this—just stop eating processed junk if you're trying to detox.

For instance: stick to whole foods—fruit, veggies, rice, fish, whatever.
Avoid the processed stuff—things like bread (since it's just ground wheat), mayo, canned goods, cookies, chips, and so on.

1. Fasting isn't the same thing as a detox.
2. Most fasts are actually pretty hard on you—depends on how extreme they get.
3. A real detox takes about three months, and it’s not even that punishing.

The trick is cutting out coffee and all that processed junk. You have to start the morning with fruit on an empty stomach, then move on to regular meals later. The rule? Eat tons of vegetables—fresh or steamed—just drizzled with a little olive oil. And cut the salt to a bare minimum.
You can still have meat and fish, but keep it simple. Boiled or lightly seared. No grilling, no burgers, nothing heavy.

Get rid of all the bakery stuff: donuts, croissants, bread, pastries—all of it. Gone.

As for drinks: stick to fresh-squeezed juices (not that store-bought carton crap), water, and tea.

Nettle tea is great for flushing out your kidneys and liver. Green tea and lemon balm are also solid choices.
One tip with tea: don't let the leaves or bags sit in the water too long. Steep them for a few minutes, then pull them out immediately.

There. That’s the gist of it.

The lack of results probably comes down to the fact that the diet only occurs once a week (during every full moon cycle, which hits roughly every seven days) 🙂

Can someone give me a professional, scientific breakdown of why fasting would actually be healthy?

The idea is that it gives your body a chance to reset and flush out toxins, since let's face it—modern food is basically junk.

That’s the theory, anyway...

Look, personally? Food is just fuel for me to get things done. I’d much rather have the energy to actually move around—even if I'm running on toxic sludge for a bit... 😬
