I’m curious if any of you folks here actually dance Hip Hop or breakdance, and more importantly, which clubs you hit up?πŸ™‚

Do you think I'm a little too old to start learning Hip Hop Dance? I'm 22. I absolutely love dancing, but I've never actually tried it before, and I have no idea if there are even any dance studios in a place like Indianapolis...

If you guys have seen the movie Step Up 2...
I have a question... do you actually dance like they do in that movie?
I'm asking because I'm seriously thinking about signing up myself.

That all sounds great, but is there anything like this in Washington, D.C.?

You can find plenty of dance studios right there in Washington, D.C., too.

The ones I’ve actually come across personally are Liberdance and Tala, though I’m pretty sure a quick Google search would turn up a whole bunch of other options...

Of course there are dance clubs in Washington, D.C.... I guess you have places like Street Rhythm.
I guess Newport is about a fifteen-minute drive from the Black Rock area.πŸ™‚

Nah, I can't stand rap or all that pretentiousness with the baggy clothes, but I actually know some hardstep that goes with techno.

I’ve always been pretty obsessed with street danceβ€”especially breakdancing. For a while there, I was actually trying to teach myself at home using YouTube, though I ended up breaking a few things around the house in the process...
After that, I jumped from popping to one thing and then another, but honestly? I didn't really master anything! Eventually, I just signed up for some Latin dance classes, where I basically just mess around and do my own thing with a bit of a hip hop twist.

Anyway... I have a few questions...
Does anyone know where those urban dance crews like Street Rhythm or the others hang out? Do they have any contact info or websites? Also, does anyone know what the monthly dues look like? And most importantlyβ€”is it too late to start learning how to handstand and flip when I'm already 21?

Man, you're only 21. Honestly, if you were telling me you were 40, I might actually have to stop and give it some thought. But at your age? Just keep doing what you're doing...

Go visit NYC if you want to see what real talent looks like, because all I see is people acting like fake gangsters trying way too hard to look tough, yo yo mothafucka...

Just kidding... though I doubt even that is easy. I tried learning the C-Walk onceβ€”which feels pretty similar, actuallyβ€”and you can basically get the hang of it in a week if you just follow YouTube tutorials... at least until it looks somewhat decent. But if you want to master the actual technical moves? That takes a serious amount of time!

It’s never too late... I didn't get started until I was 21... and now I'm already... hmmm... 22!! Hahaha... anyway, if you feel the urge to dance, just do it!!! Breakdancing rules, hip hop rules... by the way, RAP isn't about wearing baggy clothes.... it's just a fashion choice, it has nothing to do with the music itself πŸ™‚
