I function at my absolute best when I can afford seven hours of sleep during the night followed by an hour nap in the afternoon.

...on average it takes about 10 hours, though she's always complaining that she could shave some time off if she could just 🙂

On average, I’m only getting about 4 to 5 hours of sleep a night. When I actually manage to get a free weekend—which, unfortunately, doesn't happen nearly enough—I try to make up for it by sleeping in a bit longer 🙂
I got used to pulling short shifts during my medical residency, and now even when I head to bed early, I just can't drift off. Honestly, I’d much rather sleep in late in the morning than go to bed early at night.

I rarely take an hour-long nap after work because it usually does more harm than good: I typically wake up feeling groggy, with a racing heart and a bad mood... it just ruins my entire day. It seems like my circadian rhythm is pretty broken. Some friends have suggested I try melatonin, but I’m on the fence about it. A friend of mine took it to prevent jet lag, but she said it didn't really do anything for her.

Not enough. 😁

Unless I catch a quiet weekend and bump my wake-up call from maybe 6 or 7 am up to a glorious 10... man, that's the life.

I happened to catch an ad recently for some kind of Bonsai tablets that are supposed to help you drift off and actually improve your sleep quality!
Has anyone here actually given them a shot?

I almost never try to squeeze in an hour nap after work—it honestly does more harm than good for me. I usually wake up feeling bloated, my heart's racing, and just generally miserable... it pretty much ruins my entire day. Apparently, my circadian rhythm isn't built for short bursts like that.

That’s basically my life story, too.

Woke up around 10:30 this morning (caught a midnight flight last night). Finally caught up on sleep!!! Now I’m getting back into my usual routine—bed by midnight, up at 6:30 😢 until my first free weekend 😉
