He was on FOX for New Year's Day..
Just caught it.

Really liked the movie.
😳

I’ve heard plenty about her, but I had zero clue about her actual story. Honestly, maybe that’s for the bestβ€”didn't have any preconceived notions about where the plot was heading..
The film is incredibly informative and beautifully crafted.

Even though it’s long, you don't even notice the runtime.

I'm really into it just because Milla Jovovich is in it.

I’m actually a fanβ€”there’s plenty of death in this one. 😍

Did you catch that part where they nailed the guy with the arrow? 😲

And did you see how that one guy handles his sword? 😲

😁

It’s a decent movie, but honestly, I’ve had my fill of other people's history. I'd much rather see a film about King George Washington πŸ™‚

It's a solid movie, but honestly, I'm getting pretty sick of hearing about everyone else's history. I'd much rather watch a movie about King George Washington. πŸ™‚

Yeah... those violence scenes are something else...
There are some brutal moments (like that decapitation from the propeller) but... all those violent scenes are actually really well done, with style. You don't just see everything up close and gross; the director clearly made sure it wasn't nauseating for the audience.

Hmm...
It wouldn't be a bad idea to make a decent domestic historical epic... but personally, I'm liking this Ivana Orleanska thing because of the actual story and the supernatural elements. The scenes dealing with that theme are executed very well.

Too bad we don't have cool stuff like that in our own history.

What do you mean "don't have"? Just look at how three guys hiding in the woods managed to dismantle four entire German divisions during the war. 😁

If that isn't supernatural or just plain badass, I don't know what is. 😍

I honestly couldn't get into this movie at all,
and the reason is that I spent the entire runtime just waiting for somethingβ€”anythingβ€”to actually happen. It’s just non-stop carnage. Every time I think, "Okay, maybe she's going to show up in a gown at some gala," or "Maybe we're finally moving toward a real plot point," someone else gets slaughtered. It just keeps killing, and killing, until they finally kill her... bad, bad, miserable...πŸ™‚

Ugh.
I wasn't even looking at it from that angle...

For me, the most significant part was the whole thing about her hearing voices and having a divine mission...

Plus, it was actually interesting because I didn't know the history. I had to look it up online the next dayβ€”I had no idea the British held territory right there in France, or that they were fighting the French on French soil. I always assumed it was more of a Cold War situation between them.

At least now I understand why there's so much tension today, similar to how we deal with our neighbors to the East.😁

To be honest, I wasn't particularly blown away by the movie... I mean, it’s fine if you're looking to pass the time, but I think the whole thing would have been much more impactful if, in Ivana Orleanska's story, God actually stepped in directly. It might have even been better if He sort of called her out quite harshly for all those visions of hers...

Are you talking about the guy who's basically just a byproduct of her schizophrenia? 😁

Look at him! You gotta be careful about other people's feelingsβ€”as far as I know, she's either blessed or a saint in the Catholic Church...

The woman has been dead for centuries... she doesn't exactly have "feelings" left to hurt. 😁

If you ask me, she was just delusional.

The whole idea that God actually gives a damn about some specific country or its king is pretty absurd, don't you think? 😡

I remember seeing this movie in theatersβ€”I’m pretty sure I saw the poster hanging up weeks before, and honestly, I was kind of hyped for it when I was a kid. I mean, you’ve got Luc Besson directing, plus a cast featuring Dustin Hoffman, John Malkovich, and Vincent Cassel... it sounds like absolute perfection on paper. But then there's Milla Jovovich. To me, she’s just a disastrous actress; she plays the exact same role in every single one of her films (just constant yelling, overacting, and total nonsense). Honestly, if people are actually watching movies just because she's in them, they should just buy some posters of her to drool over insteadβ€”let her stay far away from the big screen, because clearly, acting just isn't her thing.

Are you seriously talking about a character born out of her schizophrenia? 😁

It isn't schizophrenia,
because if it were, she wouldn't have recognized the king,
nor would the prophecy ever come true..
let alone succeed on the battlefield.. I mean, like she said herselfβ€”she has zero experience with combat. This is clearly supernatural.

Wow, you're being harsh! πŸ™‚

Well...
πŸ€”
I actually think the movie would have turned out terrible if Milla had acted any differentlyβ€”without that raw emotion.

Maybe you (and swiftmoose22) are just bored because you don't care about history or deeper themes.
