I've got this old box at home filled with cassette tapes from back when I was just a teenager living in the city. I keep them tucked away in the closet, but every now and then I'll pull one out and listen with a bit of nostalgia. Listening to some of those singers and bands that were huge back then—but feel totally forgotten now—makes me wonder what ever happened to them.
For instance, some of my favorites from that era were Cyndi and her Material Girl vibe, Alphaville had such catchy songs (even if their frontman had a pretty wild accent), Talk Talk had great tracks, and Kim Wilde was just so sexy with such good music. And those two, the blond and the brunette duo, Modern Talking... I wonder where they ended up?
Rick Astley was so cute back then—I guess he's probably a grandpa by now...
I also can't quite remember the name of that young British singer whose song was everywhere, even though she sounded way older than her 14 years. If anyone knows who she is, let me know!
Anyway, what about you guys? Who were you listening to? If you stumble upon a site showing what our old idols look like today, please share it! It would be awesome.

Maybe Mandy? 😁

Since you're busy listing the absolute worst music ever made (basically all that 80s mainstream garbage), some idiot decided to jump on your bandwagon:

Sandra
Rick Astley
Sabrina, haha...
Nena
80s Pop Hits 🙂
Limahl—honestly, I can't believe I'm even typing this...😁
That's just what popped into my head immediately... 😁

Oh yeah... Bill Wyman's teen bride. 😁

Nena
80s Pop Hits 🙂
Limahl—I can't believe I'm even typing this...😁
That was just the first batch that popped into my head... 😁

And now, instead of an idiot, let's talk about actual morons...

Stacey Q
Paul Young
Samantha Fox
Jennifer Rush
Men Without Hats
Baltimore
Sinitta
Sonia
Tiffany
Debbie Gibson
DeBarge
Rockwell (I crack up every single time I see that "Somebody's Watching Me" video—thank God they play it on VH1 Classic relatively often)
Patrick Swayze ("She's Like the Wind")
Don Johnson ("Heartbeat") 🙂 😁
Chesney Hawkes
Cutting Crew
Go West

Duran Duran... though they're more alternative and actually high quality compared to the rest of this mess. 😍

Since you're busy listing off the absolute worst music in history—and by that, I mean basically all the mainstream garbage from the 80s—some idiot decided they wanted in on your little hate club:

Sandra
Rick Astley
Sabrina, lol...
Nena
80s Pop Hits 🙂
Limahl — I can't even believe I'm typing this...😁
That was just the first batch of junk that popped into my head... 😁

Hey, hold up—don't go throwing 80s Pop Hits into that pile just yet. They actually had some decent tracks if you listen closely.😉

I think—not that I'm 100% sure—there was some rumor about Wyman's son marrying Mandy's mom😂

pure nonsense - ha! - man, this guy needs a better memory

Pet Shop Boys, then that idiot from Karate Kid, and those Bravo albums...

Star album - what a disaster, I can't believe it😂

Does anyone happen to know what became of Martika, that pop star from the 80s?

Cyndi. 😎

😁

Cyndi is punk. 👍

Debbie Gibson is also punk, considering she recorded a track with the hardcore band Circle Jerks back in '96. The song is absolute garbage, though that's entirely on the Circle Jerks...

Since you're listing the absolute worst music ever made (basically just 80s mainstream), some random person decided to jump in and agree with you:

Sandra
Rick Astley
Sabrina, haha...
Nena
80s Pop Hits🙂
Limahl—I can't believe I'm even typing this...😁
Those were just the first things that popped into my head... 😁

No, Mandy was that weak singer from that Beatles cover band... wait, actually, the one I'm thinking of could really sing.
Anyway, I wasn't picking favorites—it was just that era, everyone was listening to the same stuff.
Ugh, Sandra—gross!
Limahl is terrible, especially looking back at it now!
And don't even get me started on Nena, that's just tacky—I didn't really listen to her though.

I was recently watching the Falco's video for The Commissioner, and it’s honestly incredible how slimy the guy is. As far as music videos go, that one might actually be the worst ever made. He looks so slick with his hair and those designer shades, but his hand gestures are just plain revolting. It's hard to imagine anyone ever topping that level of cringe.
That’s exactly why it works so well. Highly recommended.

I found myself thinking about David Hasselhoff (if that’s even how you spell it) and I've Been Looking for Freedom...
He was never exactly my idol, though he did have a pretty cool car in Knight Rider.

Wilson Phillips 😁

Beavis & Butt-head - those freaks watch the video and then the heaviest girl grabs her phone, while Beavis just goes off:

Hello, Weight Watchers, can I help you?

Oh, that’s right—back in fourth grade, our entire class, boys included, came up with this whole choreographed routine to Madonna's Like a Prayer. Man, just thinking about it now... 😁

How could I possibly forget David? The man is one of a kind—a total legend. You seriously have to see this photo I stumbled upon online. It’s him, completely naked, lying in some ridiculous pose, surrounded by tiny little puppies. There's even one tucked right between his legs. Truly unforgettable.
I was watching Knight Rider when I was only three years old, and honestly, even back then, I thought it was pretty stupid.

I've no idea, but based on the title, it kind of reminds me of Shakin' Stevens!😁

hmm
Tommy Tutone - Jenny (867-5309)

It’s funny how a one-hit wonder can actually make someone's life a total mess—I guess it's enough to make a person want to change their phone number entirely! Such an incredibly catchy hit, though.
