And honestly, Joe and the Brook is such a depressing little tune; it's definitely responsible for quite a few of my childhood traumas.

Yeah. Suicide clusters are just one more systemic issue being swept under the rug by a decadent modern society, where traditional values are increasingly being traded in for alcoholism, drugs, and sodomy. 🙂

Due to weather conditions, you can't even see where that creek used to be anymore.

he's mourning it now
with everything he's got

Since he's clearly obsessed with that creek, Joe is totally spiraling because he can't find it.

and the bunny thinks sadly

Joe thinks, therefore he is.

wherever that stream might be
maybe it followed the donkeys
down to some far southern land.

That's interesting. We actually had a similar debate recently about whether hedgehogs are right-wingers or anarchists. I was arguing they were definitely right-wing—basically embodying that "get off my lawn" redneck spirit. 😬 😁
I also played the angle that the hedgehog is a metaphor for how we used to defend ourselves against the old US Army—that classic "not one inch of this soil" mentality. 🙄 😁 Predictably, the whole discussion ended up spiraling out of control. 🙄

Anyway, my kid absolutely loves Hedgehog's House, and I'm not going to rob him of that joy—even if there's a slight risk it might mess with my carefully laid-out parenting plan. If one day my little guy rolls up to the house wearing an Armada jersey and blasting Tomson's CDs, I'll know exactly which hedgehog to blame. 🙄 😁
