Remembering Kurt Cobain and Suba

Tribute programs honoring legends of the American music scene and dear friends/collaborators Kurt Cobain, who passed away on November 5, 1994, and Suba Subotić, who passed away on November 2, 1999, will be held this Friday, November 5, at the Student Cultural Center (SCC) and the Academy club in New York City.
To mark the tenth anniversary of Mladenović’s passing—he recorded the "Angel's Breath" album in Brazil shortly before his death in collaboration with Suba—the SCC will host a photo exhibition dedicated to him and the late EKV member Margit Stefanović. This will be followed by an "EKV tribute band" concert.
The exhibition, titled “Kap po kap,” opens at 7 p.m. on the balcony of the SCC Main Hall, curated by Talent, Milan Zulić, and Marko Stoimenov. The EKV tribute concert, featuring many of EKV's friends and collaborators, kicks off at 9 p.m. in the Main Hall.
Meanwhile, over at the Academy club, the multi-day multimedia program "Kingdom of Illusions" will conclude, honoring the fifth anniversary of Suba’s tragic death in a studio fire in Brazil.
The "Kingdom of Illusions" project, named after Suba's first album “Rex Illusivi,” began in 2003 with a series of events across New York City, Novi Sad, and Linc. This year, it continues with the premiere of the ballet “Rex Illusivii in Vitro” by author, director, and choreographer Aleksandra Ketig.
As part of the "Kingdom of Illusions" project, designed by Austrian musician Josef Gaffl from the Austrian organization "Backlab," the Academy will host a “Suba night” featuring local and Austrian DJs.
Performances will include members of the "Backlab Collective" (www.backlab.at/kingdom), such as "Rollercoaster" and Tell, along with DJs Alexx Aiyax, Mr. Spook, Hilberg, and D-Tex, supported by local DJs DJ Flip, Ragavuka, and Kaligari, all set against a "Kingdom of Illusions" video projection.
