They are an absolutely stellar—though criminally underrated—band. I’ve always had a massive soft spot for them; they might actually be one of my all-time favorite groups.

Their music is flawless, and honestly, I don't think they're underrated—anyone who actually knows real music already knows who they are. People who try to act cool always say they're amazing. Even their style is solid, but I guess most people just don't see it. To really make it big in this industry, you basically have to chase about ten different mice just to catch one...

Electric - in my opinion, this is the absolute powerhouse of an album; anyone who actually cares about music should have it in their collection...

This is what true hard rock sounds like...

Rick Rubin's production here is just phenomenal. The guitars are loud—honestly, I don't think they've ever sounded better—and those solos are unforgettable and packed with energy. The rhythm section hits incredibly hard... The vocals are at their absolute peak, yet somehow they avoid that over-the-top, cheesy vocal style you often heard from similar bands back then. Even the silence during the transitions feels intentional, almost like a tool for expression... It's dark. This is definitely a record you need to experience....

The Love album, recorded before Electric, is also quite solid, and while their other records have certain standout moments, they don't even come close to the greatness of the ones I mentioned...

Man, I remember back in June 2007, they played at that huge festival out in Columbus.
They had Il Nina and Mother tearing it up, and if I recall correctly, the Scorpions closed things out. 🤣

They absolutely shredded through all the hits—you know, stuff like Rain, LRM, Edie, Fire Woman, and She Sells Sanctuary... but honestly, what really caught me off guard was when they started playing tracks from that first album, like Horse Nation, Resurrection Joe, and that totally mind-blowing Phoenix. 🙏

Here report for the details from the Columbus show back in 2007. After The Beatles finished, I packed up and headed out. Thanks a lot, 😁

It's a bummer they only played for an hour like you said... though it's funny you didn't stick around for Scorpions. They aren't quite on the same level as The Beatles for me, but they're famous enough
that it was probably worth catching. Maybe one of their songs would've actually stuck with you...

That report was a total bust.
They played way longer than they said, and they definitely covered Resurrection Joe, plus a few other tracks I can't quite put my finger on... but yeah, they were definitely playing more.

Neither Resurrection Joe nor Soul Sister were on the lineup. I didn't write the report, but the setlist is spot on 🙂

Top-tier group. I've picked up all their older albums. "Love" is a masterpiece; we used to blast them constantly back in the late '80s. Had the chance to catch them at an outdoor festival in Paris once. They were alright, though I don't think Ian has a particularly powerful live voice... he always struggles on tour because he burns through his vocals too fast, but they’re still a massive band regardless. I still listen to them today, and it's always a treat when an old track pops up. Cheers.

I wouldn't say Ian lacks a good live voice. I just listened to the concert version of Edie and he sounds great. Sometimes it's just a bad sound system making the vocals seem off... but you don't really see that happening at the major venues.🙏

I’m speaking from firsthand experience here. I’ve been to more shows than anyone can count—at least 200—mostly in Paris where bands actually respect their reputation instead of half-assing it like they do when they play here in the States. If a band sounds bad there, they sound bad... period. Regardless, I still love this band, even if Ian isn't exactly a top-tier vocalist.
