Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean

As far as I'm concerned, I absolutely loved Depp in Pirates. Honestly, it might be one of his best performances to date.

Honestly, he was absolutely phenomenal in the movie BLOW 🙏

Honestly, Depp is a total disaster, the guy is completely unhinged... but he's brilliant.
He takes on some wild roles; I'll admit his part in Pirates of the Caribbean was a joke, but for me, he’s at his best in "Sanjiv Dolina".

Depp is easily my favorite actor.
Both in terms of his talent and his overall look... 😍

👍He was just as compelling in Dead Man,🙏 🙏as he is everywhere else those two films prove.

I actually think he’s great in Tim Burton films. However, when it comes to Pirates, I found his performance to be completely lacking. Aside from my impression that the movie shamelessly lifts elements from those LucasArts adventures like "Monkey Island"—and honestly, Johnny Depp doesn't even come close to being as charming as Guybrush Threepwood—it feels like Johnny Depp is just playing the comic relief as if... well, I don't know. It’s almost as if an American production crew hired some random actor and told him, "Eeee, you're going to be the funny one, so just be haaaaapppy and sillyyyy!" and then the guy starts acting like a bunch of rowdy tourists at a roadside diner while the director shouts, "ho ho ho! This is going to be soooooo funny!" Or maybe not.

Even so, I always appreciate seeing a handsome Hollywood actor who isn't afraid to take on roles that are unconventional or entirely unglamorous. In my opinion, it took real guts to play the *comic relief* instead of the lead in Pirates. If he had the chance to nail it, he could have.

Look, the movie is a parody, so by definition, Johnny Depp's role is a parody too. And he nails it. All those feminine gestures and that awkwardness? It’s the perfect "anti-pirate" vibe. You've got a point about Monkey Island, but honestly, I see that as a win.

Johnny Depp is just one of those actors who can boost any movie's ratings just by showing up...

Jonny is just something else... especially in Sleepy Hollow playing that gritty, swampy detective. He was untouchable there...
He also crushed another more serious role where he plays a detective again—this one investigating Jack the Ripper in the movie From Hell. It’s a damn good flick.👍

Eh, I can't for the life of me remember him being hooked up to anything in Sleepy Hollow...

But man, in fra Hell it was opium. In Pirates it was rum. And in Fear & Loathing? It was basically everything under the sun!
