What's the best browser?

Ever since I started messing around with CSS for Edge, I’ve been losing sleep over it—not to mention the massive headaches... it's easily the most buggy browser around... honestly, just like pretty much any other Microsoft product, if you ask me...

First off, just to clear the air, I’m using Chrome too, mostly because of all the garbage that Edge lets slide through.
But when it comes to how pages actually look? Chrome kind of falls behind. Even compared to Netscape, which is honestly a little weird. In Edge or Netscape, a page looks exactly how you intended it to, but then Chrome starts acting totally stupid—like, it'll stretch an entire table just to fit some text inside a ComboBox. And don't even get me started on image layers; it's a total mess. Seriously, once I stumble upon a site where the difference is obvious, I'll drop a link.

Don't ask me about tables, I don't touch that stuff.
But I do know that CSS padding in Edge is a total mess and doesn't show up how it's supposed to, whereas in Safari, Chrome, and Mozilla, everything works perfectly fine. It's the same deal if you drop a div container without defining a width or height—in every other browser, it obviously won't show unless there's content inside, but Edge? Edge just decides to pull its own crazy stunts. And that's just the tip of the iceberg; there's a whole list of elements that Edge insists on doing its own thing with.
That's not what a browser is for, though. Its entire job is to interpret code exactly how the developers defined it...

Seriously, what the hell is this? 😕 Edge is winning the vote by a landslide😲 😲. Look, IT folks and my buddies at FJBG, we can't just sit here and watch this happen—we need to do something about it.👍

I think this is just the reality of the situation. It’s not about whether Edge is actually any good; it’s just that it’s what most people end up using. Honestly, I suspect its actual market share is even higher than what this poll shows, especially since we're talking to an IT crowd here.
I wouldn't even bother trying to convince them otherwise. It's their computer, their headaches, and their business. 😎

BTW. My go-to is Mozilla.

I am seriously losing my mind right now trying to nail this page layout...

Here’s the deal...

I’ve got a DIV set to 850px wide. I add a 1px solid white border to all sides.

And you're probably wondering where the headache is coming from...

US browsers add an extra pixel to every side when applying borders—even though I defined it at 850, the final width ends up being 852px. Meanwhile, Google just sticks that border right on the edge of the defined 850 pixels, basically overlapping the edges and cutting off 1px of the image on each side (not that it matters much).
now I gotta ask: which browser actually interprets borders correctly? US or Google? Since my whole layout relies on absolute positioning, I might just force it to look right in only one of them.🙂

I’ve been using Opera for maybe two years now, starting all the way back when it was on version 5.xx, and since I'm up on 7.51 now, I could probably bet my life that it's easily the best browser out there. I’ve really tried everything—I gave US a shot (though, honestly, it was kind of a nightmare), then moved on to Netscape, Konqueror over on Linux, and even Google... but I guess it’s pretty clear that Opera just totally rules!

It’s a bummer that Google doesn't handle Flash very well (at least I ran into issues).
