It really all depends on how you personally define the term "Country music."

If your definition includes anything and everything with a bit of a rustic, rural twang, then... well, ah...

Take a band like Garth Brooks—it’s a toss-up for me, honestly. Some days I find myself really feeling those songs, and other days, they just don't quite hit the mark...

While I certainly have a deep respect for authentic, traditional folk music and ethnic roots, it isn't necessarily something I would choose to listen to on a daily basis....

Country music enthusiasts? Hmm... I mean, folk groups and even bluegrass fall under that big "folk" umbrella... it's all just traditional stuff... whether you're listening to a group like the Chicks or something by Johnny Cash, it's all roots music. My issue is that when people say "country music," they usually immediately think of that cheap, overproduced Nashville pop stuff that has zero connection to actual American heritage. To me, that's just commercial trash, not real music.

The discussion feels a bit pointless to me. It’s pretty obvious that in most cases, people just lump Country music in with that trashy pop-folk stuff instead of recognizing it as actual, traditional roots music.

Why does everyone listen to those foreign, Eastern-style, or whatever other off-brand country tracks that have zero connection to the US? It's honestly exhausting. 🙂

Instruments like the banjo or fiddle are considered part of our true folk heritage, but the term "country music" nowadays almost exclusively refers to that mass-produced garbage.

People should just listen to whatever they want. If someone is actually this bothered by it, maybe they have their own issues if they're spending this much energy worrying about what others do.🙄

I guess those who listen to it found something they like. Just like how someone loves metal, there are people who love country music. But you asked specifically about that certain genre, and I don't think mainstream folk fits into your division, so I'm probably going off-topic... anyway, I still think starting this thread was a bad idea.🙄 🙂
