It’s actually kinda funny how they track Godzilla's footprints at the start, just heading right down the road... the good old Godzilla knew exactly where she was going instead of just wandering aimlessly. Honestly? I think she was sent there on purpose...

Honestly, looking at that flight path (French Polynesia - the vast stretches of the Pacific Ocean - Puerto Rico - the Gulf of Mexico - Hudson Bay - New York), one really has to start questioning things. 😬
