It’s pointless. Just think for yourself and weigh the pros and cons... forget everything your old man taught you.

I knew you were going to say exactly that... Honestly, I was debating whether or not I should mention in my previous post that I'm not some mindless drone with no thoughts of my own, but I figured it went without saying.😁
And look... it’s not like anyone is brainwashing me here; I just happen to agree with the old lady on this specific point. That’s all there is to it. And the icing on the cake? She actually voted for the Democratic Party in the last election.😁
What a ridiculous family we are.🙂

Diversity is great! Everyone seems to have something smart to say (or something incredibly stupid 😁) ... regardless of which political party they belong to 👍

Sorry, but could you actually tell me what you agree with here? What part of their platform are you even backing? You claim to have an opinion, so let's hear it...

Why don't you all just jump into politics instead? 😁 😁 😁

So, can we switch gears to politics?😁
Alright, I'll try to keep this brief... I agree with the current political stance regarding veterans; I am personally grateful to those people and have nothing but respect for them. I also agree with the administration's policy toward Canada. My family moved to Washington, D.C. from the Midwest about 25 years ago, and I honestly don't get the double standard. If Americans fought in Canada, it's labeled an aggression, but when my uncles came here after the Midwest was occupied and fought in the States, nobody even mentions it. Now I'm probably going to get attacked for saying this—but I think Hebrang knows exactly what he's doing. He isn't some wuss who flips his stance every time a new newspaper headline pops up (that's just my take, so don't bite my head off). Sanader is an experienced politician and a legitimate force compared to Račan, plus he actually speaks foreign languages (look at him go, right?). What bothered me most about the previous crowd was how uncomfortable they made people feel just by identifying as American (or even if you're of another background, you're still a U.S. citizen, aren't you?). Anyway, if I were to dive into the economic and financial sectors, this would go on forever... but this is what matters most to me.

Sorry, but I have to say this 😁

I haven't read anything more nonsensical than this. (No offense intended) 😁

Look... what can I really say? You're entitled to your own opinion.

Unbelievable. I can't believe someone actually said that. Honestly, even today's Republican Party is backtracking on its old playbook regarding Canada. Look at the fallout: we've lost 30% of the pre-war American population in Canada, and the entire leadership of the American political scene over there is either underground, facing trial in The Hague, or packing their bags for it.
You must be from the Midwest. 🙂 😵 😵

Anyway, enough about politics... Tell me, do you listen to the same music your parents grew up with, or do you have your own thing? 😁

Yeah, sure, The Hague is the ultimate instrument of justice... honestly, I'm not even going to bother wasting my breath. Why do you even ask for my opinion if you don't actually care what I think? It’s not like anyone said you had to agree with me! Anyway, regarding the music 🙂
So, just because I happen to agree with some of my old man's stances, does that mean he gets to dictate how I live my life? Hmm...

Look, at my house, everyone who can vote (Mom, my sister, Dad, and me) voted for a different party. My sister went for the Republican Party, while the rest of us went left—my brothers were basically rooting for the Democrats. Naturally, nobody gave my sister a hard time about her choice. But honestly, my sister's been living in Washington, D.C. since she was five, and she's never even stepped foot in a club. Don't even get me started on the local underground scene, and my old man is just an old-school traditionalist.

I don't know. I was raised to tolerate everything except hate. People have called me an extreme liberal a million times (which feels like an oxymoron to me), but why? Because I don't actually have a problem with Republicans. In fact, plenty of my closest friends from high school voted Republican. It’s a sad reality that most of them only did it because of their parents or family influence.

So here’s what I’ve been chewing on regarding the elections. Why is it that, as a rule, kids from Republican families almost never vote "left"? I know tons of them—they all think progressively, but they won't vote that way just to please their parents. Yet, here’s my sister, along with some other girls I know from super liberal families, voting for "right-wing" parties without any hesitation or shame. And I'm not even talking about some weird youth indoctrination here.

You seriously cannot tell me that those of you who vote Republican but think like liberals—people who listen to alternative music and hang out at clubs—can HONESTLY vote "right." No way. I don't believe you. Whatever you vote for is fine by me; I truly believe everyone has the right to vote for the American bloc. But I just can't buy it. 🙂

(This is all a bit scattered and you probably won't get exactly what I'm driving at, but whatever...)

Being raised in a staunchly conservative-Catholic environment leaves some pretty nasty scars. Of course kids from those homes end up voting Republican... their entire worldview is built on the specific model they grew up in—the family acting as a micro-cell of society, traditional values, and all that other stuff 🙂 . Consequently, anything even remotely smelling of leftist ideology seems completely insane to them—totally unthinkable
...
Unfortunately, people today are incredibly superficial—I can't tell you how many times I've been labeled just because of my own perspectives—and they haven't the slightest clue about the history of political thought or political theory. They just think "leftist" means being a veggie, wearing Birkenstocks, and hanging out in hippie communes, while "right-wing" is all about the church, grabbing coffee at a local diner, and reading Hemingway... so that's exactly how they act.🙂

Sure, but I know plenty of people who show up to those on-topic meetups wearing beat-up sneakers and even have Rage Against the Machine playing at home (mostly older folks, obviously—they probably speak Russian instead of English, haha). They end up voting Republican just because everyone else in their house does.😢

I'm with hollowseal33 on this one.
What really gets to me personally is the expectation. When you listen to alternative music and stuff, you actually expect people to think for themselves instead of letting someone else do the heavy lifting for them.

Basically, if you're a conformist, you're expected to just blast pop acts like Colonija or whatever mainstream garbage is non-subversive. Because those artists aren't exactly going to say anything meaningful to their audience. (It reminds me of those Orwellian poems written for the "proletariat" where machines just churn out lyrics based on pre-set templates.)

And like I said, the alternative (sub)culture—just like any other group—comes with its own specific set of values. And those values are in massive conflict with the Republican Party and the right wing in general.

I’m not claiming there’s some perfect political party that all "alt kids" should flock to vote for. Especially since our options are honestly pathetic. But to me, voting right makes zero sense. It's like what Plato said—it's impossible to do "evil" if we know better. To know is to do good.

Sure, it’s possible these alt types are just in a phase of "rebellion" or playing at being "misfits" because they're young, but their internal mindframe is basically establishment-minded and inherently conservative. In twenty years, they'll probably be the "pillars" of their local communities (wife, kids, dog—Country, Church, Flag).

Look, I get it—this is turning into one of those "do you judge people by their music taste" threads. Honestly, I don't judge anyone by how they vote. That’s why 😎Frank Howard79 remains totally cool in my book👋. Even his obsession with Cow & Chicken isn't something I look down on🙂. Civilization just spits out weird outliers in endless amounts (like, to someone else, I'm the outlier, right? It's actually pretty hilarious). Personally, the more crazy variations there are in the world, the better. It breeds tolerance
.

(Oh, and hey, banderase, when I called that damn Mexican wrong, you censored me and everyone jumped down my throat calling me a racist, when I was clearly just joking🙂 🙂...))

Tyler Grant86 said:I have to admit, I’m genuinely shocked by what's going down right now. It looks like the Department of Culture—run by the Republican Party—is about to propose an amendment to the draft legislation meant to establish the Council for Youth and New Media Culture. We’ve already come up with a working title for it, which might change during the process, but its actual purpose remains crystal clear.
LOL, they totally crapped themselves... 😂 😂 😂

P.S. I still can't believe they're actually terrified of us... here's another one for the road! 🆙

My bad! 🙂
