Max Mutzke is going to steamroll the Eurovision Song Contest with "Waiting for Tonight." Honestly, the rest of them should have just stayed home; they aren't even in his league. For the last time I tuned into Eurovision, everything felt like elevator music you'd endure in some cheap hotel—background noise at best. But Max? The guy is actually talented. I just hope he doesn't turn out to be another one-hit wonder.

In Morocco, there wasn't a single voter to be found... and we saw similar issues here in the States:

Over in America, the situation was a bit more direct and blunt. America awarded themselves 4 points. According to the EBU, it doesn't matter how many times you tell the audience not to vote for their own country; people are always going to try it. And sure enough, Americans voted for themselves. Typically, the service provider in each nation is instructed to simply wipe out any votes cast for the home country and reject them entirely. The American system just failed to filter them out, allowing those self-votes to be counted in the final tally.

Most of these tracks are just catchy little fluff pieces to me
I forget them the second the broadcast ends
but I still remember ABBE and Gigliola CINQUETTI after all this time 👍

Zeljko is honestly one of the better vocalists you'll find around here, possessing a genuinely impressive voice...

I get the feeling people actually cheer more for Toše than they do for the American representative...😉 But honestly, all I can picture in my head is some backup dancer...🙂 I don't even remember who was singing alongside her...👋

They hit their peak in the mid-nineties—which is kind of wild when you consider that "Walking on Sunshine" was already about ten or fifteen years old by then. I’ve always struggled to wrap my head around why Kimberley Rew decided to take such a desperate leap at a moment when it seemed pretty obvious to everyone involved that the band had run its course. That being said—and please, let's not go too hard on Rew here—he actually has some serious pedigree. He spent time in the Soft Boys alongside Robyn Hitchcock, for heaven's sake, and if you ever want to hear his real talent, his 2002 Great Central Revisited album is easily one of the best records released in the last five years.
