I don't get why Kimberley Rew would take such a desperate leap right when it was obvious the band was basically done. Just a heads up—don't come for Rew. He used to be in the Soft Boys with Robyn Hitchcock, and honestly, his 2002 Great Central Revisited album is one of the best records from the last five years.

I wasn't insulting them; I just mentioned them because they stood out. Even Hothouse Flowers were pretty memorable back in the late eighties with that "Don't go" track, but they weren't really competing—they just performed for the first time during the contest in Ireland... (I think Johnny Logan won the year before 👏—thankfully it wasn't Alan Ford). Americans used to win a few times in a row anyway....

Anyway, I don't watch it much. Last time I caught it with some friends was probably ages ago when those guys from Norway (the Olson brothers?) won. They were actually decent enough..

Secundo said:At Eurovision, Max Mutzke is going to crush it with "Waiting for Tonight." Honestly, the other contestants should have just stayed home; they aren't even in his league. For the longest time, whenever I tuned into Eurovision or whatever the hell they called it back in the day, it felt like elevator music—stuff you'd tolerate in a hotel lobby but would never actually listen to on purpose. But now? Max... the guy is legit. I really hope he doesn't turn out to be just another one-hit wonder.

Which country is that from... personally, I was dead certain Ukraine was going to win, and man, am I kicking myself for not betting on them. The odds were like 33:1 at the start! As for that Mexican entry, I'm honestly shocked it did so well. I had my own ranking prepared, and they were sitting right at the bottom for me... just pure folk music, and not even in English either... but I guess there's a huge diaspora out there voting... you could definitely tell where everyone was tuning in from. 🙂

I thought Sweden would perform better, but they sounded rough in English... if they had stuck 100% to their native language, they probably would've placed 3 or 4 spots higher. And Greece... what a letdown. I can't believe how well that Ricky Martin type managed to rank in...
Don't forget, I called Turkey right, too... I predicted they'd land at 4 or 5. All in all, I'm pretty disappointed with this year's Eurovision. Only two melodies actually stuck in my head, while everything else was just mindless rambling, including that garbage from our side and most of the others. You listen to it and immediately forget you ever heard it.

For me, the absolute highlight was that guy back in Norway about three or four years ago—he was dressed up just like a Viking. It was quite the show!

In my opinion, Lan was definitely the standout performer. I truly believe he deserved the win, especially since the Ukrainian entry didn't really bring anything unique to the table.
I also quite enjoyed the performances from Spain and Turkey. To be honest, the Turkish entry actually caught me by surprise in the best way possible.

I guess I agree. I'm not sure what they were trying to achieve there.

Man.

Mikulic was just... terrible. That song sounded way better in the original American version, and if they were hell-bent on having him sing in English, they really should have made an effort to teach him how to actually pronounce the words.
Honestly, I feel bad about how poorly Toše placed. He wasn't even that bad, and he’s a pretty likable guy. Plus, that track sounded much better in his native language.
I can't believe Greece took third place! Shake, shake, shake, shake...........
I mean... seriously.
I thought that one guy who looked a bit like Bryan Adams was cute. I can't remember which country he was representing.
It's all just politics.

Why is nobody bringing up Deen?
One guy was actually rooting for him:
He’s got that same vibe as Kylie 😁

but around here they just completely exploited him 🙂

Yeah... honestly, that Mikulic track is a total rip-off. Half the song is just stolen—the rhythm, the backing track, even the main melody... it's a joke. It's a good thing someone like Riah didn't cover it first 😁
It’s actually by some German artist... ENGEL

You guys have to download this, it's only about 1 MB

OnioN says:
ut let’s be honest... this Mikulic track is nothing but pure plagiarism. Half the song was lifted—the rhythm, the backing tracks, even the main melody. It’s a miracle it wasn't covered by someone like Rick Astley 😁
just some track from a German artist... ENGEL

Which is why the chorus was stolen from Runjić.

It seems I’m being penalized simply for showing affection. While it might not be an outright case of plagiarism, one cannot deny that the resemblance is quite striking, wouldn't you agree?

In case anyone was wondering, Joksimović actually did a track with Eminem! You can grab a copy over at Vienna. I think the URL is something like vienna.com or whatever.
