Lethal Weapon 1-4

Are you all catching that Richard Donner hit series lately?

The finale airs tonight and, much like the previous three installments, I find myself preparing to record it—even though I’ve likely watched all four films about 177 times by now.

The first one remains my personal favorite. It possesses genuine humor, top-tier action, and a flawless script by Shane Black (who appeared in Predator and penned the screenplay for the last action hero...).

Ultimately, it is a certain brand of filmmaking whose charm simply never fades. It stands in stark contrast to, say, James Bond.

And then there is that immortal line: I'm too old for this shit. 😉

Or maybe we should just look at this from a woman's perspective—you know, back when a young Mel Gibson was constantly parading around shirtless with those perfectly sculpted abs... Oh yeah... definitely a sight to behold.

James Bond probably deserves his own dedicated thread. But, speaking generally, the modern films are significantly inferior to the classics.
They rely solely on action sequences. And women. Everything else is... well, worthless.
No coherent plots, no dialogue, not even pathetic attempts at humor. It is quite simply a waste of money. 😎

Great action movies like Die Hard just aren't being made anymore... 🙄

No, they certainly existed once upon a time, particularly in the sequels.

I'd point to a few true masterpieces: the Die Hard series (where Joe McTiernan handled the first, Renny Harlin took the second, and then we returned to Joe McTiernan for the third); the first two entries of The Terminator (by James Cameron); and the first two Alien films (directed by Ridley Scott, the man behind the legendary Blade Runner). While other sequels have their merits, I won't list them because it feels as though the core concept eventually became diluted. Furthermore, the fact that all four recent films fall under the Sci-Fi umbrella is irrelevant. At its heart, this is simply a top-tier, high-tension action shooter. 😉

I honestly never get tired of these. Much like the Die Hard trilogy, it’s got everything you need for a guaranteed mind-blowing ride.
Most action flicks these days—if you can even call them that anymore—are just nothing but cheap clichés and over-the-top nonsense.

Mel Gibson's movies have been on such a roll lately; I just finished watching Face/Off.

Watched it last night on my new TV setup—first time seeing it in ages. I’m a bit confused by two specific scenes, though; it feels like I missed them before. At the start, Gibson takes out some psycho sniper who's just spraying bullets everywhere, and then halfway through, he picks up some young girl in his car and takes her home to watch a movie. Is this a director's cut, or am I just being thick?

The first three installments are easily the best in the series 😁 though I can't say the same for Lethal Weapon 4
My sister mocks me every single time it comes on the TV 😂
