Picked up 'Gold' a few days ago and honestly? I can't stop listening. It’s not just because there's a track called 'New York City' 😍, it's because the whole album is just—wow—it's incredible. I don't really care how people try to label it, whether they call it new country or alt-country or whatever else. Sure, at first I was a little thrown by how much it sounds like Bryan Adams, but no need to panic—it's a totally different vibe. 😁

I'm pretty sure Beth Orton was one of his flings at some point, too.

Bottom line? Ryan rocks. Period.

I’m really digging 'Love is hell pt2'—that sensitive, almost overly dramatic vibe actually suits him... 'R'N'R' is probably his weakest link, though; he doesn't quite seem to find his footing with the heavier stuff. It feels a bit like he went into the studio thinking, "Look at everything I can do"...
Still a solid guy, though...

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Demolition album—or whatever they decided to call it.
The track "So Alive" is an absolute anthem. 👍

I love that story about how he once actually cut a concert short just to demand security kick out some guy who kept yelling at him to play "Can't Stop the Feeling!" Honestly, both *Gold* and *Demolition* are solid listens—though that first album is definitely the standout for me. As for *rock and roll*, I might be being a bit hard on myself there, because it’s honestly pretty trash. Also, I still think his early work with Whiskeytown was great, even if it’s strictly alt-country and not really everyone's cup of tea.

My bad, I messed up—that first one is definitely the best, it's the true Heartbreaker

Honestly, Ryan Adams is the man. Gold stands as his absolute peak; he really didn't need rock and roll (a massive letdown), but those Heartbreaker and Whiskeytown days... pure perfection.

I have a few friends who constantly tease me about listening to Bryan Adams, haha. Nobody actually takes the time to listen to the album. Some of them even "threatened" to pull an all-nighter and scrawl a giant B on my album cover while I was sleeping down at the beach in Miami. :=
