The leadership over at Ferrari has actually filed a complaint against Toyota, alleging they snatched a blueprint for their car design. US investigators even raided the homes of certain Ferrari staff members suspected of leaking trade secrets to Toyota, though nothing incriminating was actually found during the searches. Now, Toyota is turning the tables and preparing to sue Ferrari for defamation. That’s just how things work in today's high-stakes industry—everyone is suing everyone, and it seems Ferrari is always looking for an edge off the track to beat the competition.

Give me a break... even someone with zero vision can see that the Toyota looks almost identical to the Ferrari... even over at F1-liv they’re reporting that the media has started leaning into the joke, calling the Toyota cars nothing more than "Ferraris with Toyota engines."

That’s just how things work in the modern era; everyone’s looking for a reason to sue, and Ferrari is always finding ways to beat the competition outside of the actual racing circuit.

Look, Ferrari won on the track. They don't really need this extra layer of drama... but if they have the legal standing, then sure, they have every right to complain and file a lawsuit.

Austin Evans says Montezemolo:
Come on now... anyone with eyes can see that the Toyota looks almost identical to the Ferrari. Even on F1-liv, they're reporting that the media has started joking around, calling the Toyota cars "Ferraris with Toyota engines."
Ferrari beat their competition on the track, so they don't need this extra drama... but if they feel they have grounds, they certainly have the right to complain and file a lawsuit.

That's an interesting perspective. Looking back, it seems like it just ended up being a massive waste of taxpayer money and police resources, not to mention how much it created a climate of distrust within the team.

If my memory serves me right, there was some talk about this a year or two ago—people saying Toyota looked way too much like Ferrari, though nothing ever really stuck

As of now, there's still nothing to show for it.

Ferrari beat their rivals on the track. They don't need this extra drama... but if they have the grounds, they certainly have the right to complain and file a lawsuit.

Ferrari, especially during the Schumacher era, will always get preferential treatment; the FIA almost always decides in their favor.

So, I finally wander back onto the forum after what feels like an absolute eternity, only to discover that bluebadger52 has apparently lost the ability to read or write. Honestly, there goes twenty-six years of my life spent putting my faith in someone like that... what a total waste.
