This is hands down the ultimate driving song.

Generally speaking, I find dub or ska to be the perfect vibe for driving. You just can't listen to bands like Iron Maiden while behind the wheel because, well, they simply don't fit the mood. Plus, you wouldn't want to cause an accident, right? 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

By the way, if you're looking for driving music, The Doors and their version of Riders on the Storm are absolutely top-tier.
Just imagine cruising during twilight, heading west toward downtown, maybe rolling down a long stretch of highway near an ExxonMobil refinery... man, that vibe...😁

I’m not sure if this has been covered before. If it has, feel free to let a mod delete it or whatever. I think there’s actually a specific genre for driving music. Just like we have music for parties, chill sessions at home, or tailgating at games... there’s music that just hits differently when you're behind the wheel on a long haul. If I were driving from New York to Chicago and back, my playlist would look something like this:
-Johnny Cash - One, Rusty Cage, Solitary Man
-Allman Brothers Band - Jessica
-The Doors - Roadhouse Blues, Love Her Madly
-Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl, Perfect Fit
-Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
-Nirvana - Come As You Are, basically the whole Nevermind album
-Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
-Matchbox 20 - Yourself or Someone Like You
-Dire Straits - Local Hero theme
-Dylan, pretty much his entire discography...

I actually find Pimps pretty great when I'm behind the wheel. I'm not usually a fan, but once I've got my hands on the steering wheel, they sound about ten times better. Their lyrics just let your brain chill out so you can focus entirely on the drive.

I’ve been listening to just about everything lately, though I think some ambient might actually hit the spot right now... or even just general electronic music.

Just a moment ago, maybe because of this heat, I found myself leaning into early hip-hop—specifically that Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito radio show vibe. The atmosphere and the music are both incredible.

Regarding fast metal and hardcore: The Dillinger Escape Plan (specifically the Mike Patton era), and Phantoms immediately.
Rykers, S.O.D., Hatebreed, Mastodon.

For the "weird" bands: Estradasphere and Mr. Bungle.

And honestly, the ultimate driving album has to be Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf... yeah.

Give me all these albums and I'll drive you to the edge of the world if needed.😁

Blues is always the premier choice for me... think Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Van Morrison, or Jonny Lang...

When the sun is out and I need those good vibes, I go with Reggae—UB40, Inner Circle, or Bob Marley...

For rainy days? That’s definitely Dire Straits and Chris Rea. "The Road to Hell" is hands down my ultimate "rainy day song."

When I'm speeding on the highway: Deep Purple with "Highway Star," AC/DC, or ZZ Top is the way to go.

And if there's a road trip involved, I might lean toward some classic housewife tunes or country music... say, the Eagles, which is that perfect blend of country, rock, and blues.
