Mulholland Drive has some absolutely killer scenes,,
Green Mile—a bit too depressing and drags on too long
The 13th Warrior—slightly better than Xena or Hercules
24 Hours—starts off strong but ends up feeling pretty pathetic
Memento—hands down the best movie I've seen in a while
Bruce Almighty—honestly pretty bad even for an American comedy; everyone goes crazy for it, but Mary is actually good in that genre

Take a look at "The Usual Suspects." For me, it stands as one of the absolute best films I have ever seen in my entire life, and believe me, I've watched a massive amount of them.

That actually reminds me... "The Jerk" (I can't quite recall the exact title) with Steve Martin and Michael Caine. It's such a clever little comedy; surprisingly, it stays just as funny no matter how many times I rewatch it...

Check out 'Following' (not sure if anyone else has brought it up yet; directed by Christopher Nolan)... personally, I think it beats 'Memento' any day.

Mira Nair’s "Monsoon Wedding."
It doesn't really fit into any of the categories mentioned above, but it’s honestly a fantastic watch—at least if you ask me. I think it actually picked up a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival last year.
If you're looking for something a bit different from the usual Hollywood formula, definitely track this one down. Solid direction, great acting, a killer story, vibrant colors, the music, the laughs, and the tears... It really does have it all (just without the mindless explosions).

John Carpenter's 'Assault on Precinct 13': back when I was a kid, I honestly thought someone like that would pop up and take me out while I was just trying to grab a vanilla ice cream cone! 😱

Mulholland Drive — man, where do I even start? It’s one of those films that just refuses to let go of you once the credits roll. You sit there staring at the screen, trying to piece together the fractured reality, wondering if you actually witnessed a coherent story or just a beautiful, neon-soaked fever dream. It’s pure David Lynch, through and through—unsettling, gorgeous, and completely unapologetic about leaving you hanging. Honestly, I spent half the runtime trying to rationalize what was happening, only to realize that logic is the last thing this movie wants from you. It’s more about the feeling, the dread, and that sheer sense of disorientation. Just brilliant.

Those old-school cleaning heads—honestly, they feel like something straight out of an ancient David Lynch film.

Oh, believe me, they are everywhere—absolutely everywhere. From the works of Robert Altman to that whole Woody Allen era... it just doesn't end.
Look, when you walk into a video rental store—and I’m talking about those old-school places that actually carry a decent selection—don't just wander aimlessly through the aisles. It’s a waste of time. Walk straight up to the counter and ask for the catalog. Seriously. Start browsing by director... or, if you’re feeling particularly uninspired, go by the actors. I know, I know—searching by cast is a bit lazy and doesn't tell you much about the actual soul of the movie—but hey, it’s a starting point when you're stuck. Most of these places can't even categorize their films by genre correctly anyway, so trying to find a "thriller" or a "comedy" is often a total shot in the dark. Just follow the talent and hope for the best.
I honestly can't tell if they actually bother making catalogs based on festival wins over where you guys are—it’s such a useful metric, isn't it? I mean, you generally have a pretty solid idea of what kind of caliber a specific festival holds, which can really help guide your choices... just a thought.
