It’s about time we finally got into this debate over what certain bands actually play—whether they're rock, grunge, hard rock, or metal...

I don't know much about bands—but back when I was younger (and actually free 😉)—I mostly fell for punks (though my taste in that scene was pretty weak)
The majority were rockers or similar types with a bit of a hippie vibe
One noise enthusiast
One goth (or whatever they called them back then...)
Zero metalheads

Nah, not even close.
Back then, I was mostly listening to bands my punk friends—or the guys I was seeing—wouldn't even touch with a ten-foot pole. That was a lifetime ago, though—we've all broadened our horizons since then and frankly, we don't care what anyone else is spinning. As far as punk goes, I only really dug the melodic stuff, like the Buzzcocks, but those punks? They were just irresistible. To me, they were always this perfect, chaotic mix of stupidity and rebellion.
P.S.
Obviously, I've outgrown those kinds of labels too. I ended up marrying a guy who can't carry a tune to save his life—even if he did have a The Stooges tape in his pocket when we first met...🙂 )
