On the map Faramir is studying at his camp, Barad-dur is actually plotted in the wrong location.

I was wondering how you guys handled chapter 8 of Lord of the Rings in your versions?

Honestly, I’m just so disappointed by how much they decided to change.

I can't help but wonder what on earth they’re going to do with The Return of the King.

For those of us who actually sat down and read the books, I’m pretty convinced everyone is going to walk away feeling at least a little let down.

To me, The Two Towers book and its movie adaptation barely feel like the same story, except for the fact that they did a stellar job with Gollum.

I remember thinking the same thing during the first movie—how Boromir was this handsome blonde guy, whereas in the book he's much darker.🙄

Then you have the fact that there's no interaction between Shelob and Frodo in the second film, even though it's such a crucial part of the plot. It's the same deal with Gandalf's and Saruman's confrontation—equally important, yet completely missing from the screen. At this rate, the third movie is probably going to run for a hundred hours.

I’ve also got plenty of gripes with "The Two Towers."

Well, Peter Jackson did say Shelob shows up in the third movie. I’m assuming the showdown between Gandalf and Saruman is pushed to the third part too. Since we aren't getting that bit where the Hobbits head back to Hobbiton—and considering the third book is actually pretty thin (most of it is just appendices, anyway)—I think moving some stuff from the second film to the third is a fine call. Otherwise, the movie would be way too short or just boring, and it needs to be the big spectacle.

Still, certain things in "The Two Towers" just won't sit right with me. Faramir being totally different from the book version, the trip to Osgiliath, waving the ring in front of the Nazgûl... he shouldn't have done that. That said, there's plenty of good stuff in there, so all in all, I still enjoyed the movie.

What are your thoughts on the book...
and then, eventually, on the film trilogy...

Are you seriously suggesting that nobody else thought to start a thread about Lord of the Rings before you, or are you just messing with me?😕

I sat through the first Lord of the Rings movie once.
It was painfully boring.
I somehow powered through it just because I felt like I should, praying to God that something interesting would actually happen. Spoiler alert: it didn't.
A total disaster! A complete waste of time.

I went into the second one feeling pretty optimistic, but I just couldn't get into it.

As for the third one? Not a chance.
