Just caught it today, so... I mean, was this actually meant to be some kind of hip-hop Crossroads like everyone expected when they first announced the movie, or did Hanson actually pull off a solid film based on all those reviews?

The movie was actually pretty decent. Honestly, it turned out way better than I was expecting...

Eminem really caught us all off guard with that one.

It’s watchable, and honestly, the acting is decent, but it's nowhere near an Oscar, despite what some people were claiming. The plot is just plain silly and leaves you feeling kind of numb by the end... like they wanted to tell this underdog story but lost interest halfway through. Then they just wrap it up with that super predictable "zero to hero" trope you see in every single one of these movies.

If you're a huge fan, go ahead. Otherwise, it's no big deal if you skip it. You'd probably forget it by tomorrow anyway.

Swearing? Oh, definitely. There isn't a ton of violence (though there is some), but the language... honestly, it's like listening to a pack of angry construction workers losing their minds.

Heading out tonight to check out this movie everyone's talking about. Not saying my expectations are through the roof or anything... I'll drop my thoughts tomorrow. 👋

I just stepped out of the movie theater.
The film is honestly great. It could have easily turned into a massive Eminem ego-trip, but Curtis Hanson did a fantastic job wrapping everything up into this compelling social drama—you know, the kind where you see the stark divide between the inner-city neighborhoods and the trailer parks. I was especially struck by how they captured the decaying streets of Detroit; it looks almost like some sort of gritty, urban Mad Max set design.
Eminem feels surprisingly natural on screen, though I have to say, Basinger's performance is the absolute standout for me.
And those rap battle scenes? They are seriously, incredibly well-executed.

The movie is fantastic. Maybe I'm being biased because I'm such a fan of Eminem, but at the very least, it's a solid film.😎

Look, I might be a bit older, but I’m still a huge fan of Eminem, so this movie really hit home for me. 🙂 Now if only I could actually snag a ticket to the concert... 😁

She’s little—nine years old today... and for some reason, she's absolutely obsessed with Eminem.
If there were 13, I wouldn't have a single thing to say about it.
But nine... honestly, what they were swearing about was the smallest thing imaginable. I was just wondering if it was anything like his lyrics—you know, like the stuff about Kim? 😉

Hmm, if she's your sister and only 9 years old... then you definitely need to wish her a happy birthday! When I was around her age, I was busy listening to the Backstreet Boys 😲 😳 😢

Honestly, I don't think the movie will have much of an impact on her. If anything, it might actually inspire her by showing that "hard work and pure grit can actually lead to success in life." 🙄
