I can’t even remember the last time I sat through something this painfully stupid. 🤮

Clichés, a tired premise—just pure misery.
I got home from the theater yesterday after catching W. Allen’s "Banana," and honestly, I laughed more in the first two minutes of that than I did during this entire disaster of a movie. 🙄
The only thing I can't wrap my head around is how on earth they made so much money with this crap. 😕

I actually loved it. Sure, there were a few clichés here and there, but I had a blast... I don't know, maybe just those typical immigrant tropes...

I was laughing my head off!😁 😁 😁

Look, the movie is decent—definitely one of the better recent comedies out there—and it actually has some really solid foundations, even though I wasn't expecting much going in.

But honestly? Everything after that starts feeling pretty dull. I know I shouldn't have set the bar too high, but after those first few minutes, I was really hoping for more, and unfortunately, it just didn't deliver.

At the end of the day, the whole thing feels a bit overhyped and leans way too hard on those tired Mediterranean-American tropes, but hey, it’s passable if you're just looking to kill some time.

Whenever someone brings up how much better *East being eastern* is compared to *Greek Wedding*, I’m totally on board. That opening scene where they're carrying the cross? Honestly, what a killer way to set the tone.😁

I finally sat down to watch that movie thanks to the Večernjak Collection. Honestly? It’s easily the weakest one on the list. I guess they put it first because it’s the biggest commercial hit. Looking at the box office results, the film cost about $5 million but pulled in $241,437,427 in the US, £13,441,558 in the UK, and €13,887,127 in Italy... Unbelievable. While the movie itself left me totally cold, the trivia helped salvage my impression (!?). Apparently, Nia Vardalos wrote the script based strictly on her own life, making the whole thing feel like a glorified family amateur project. Her actual husband is also named Ian, and he plays that annoying bald guy who is Corbett's friend. Tom Hanks produced it, so clearly he smelled a money maker, though how this thing became such a massive success remains a total mystery to me. As Great Corbett puts it—he’s been acting for 15 years and only had one person visit him on set once, yet Nia Vardalos had at least a dozen loud relatives showing up every single day during filming.

I don't get why everyone is hating so hard—it’s not like we should be comparing this movie to something by Lars von Trier; you'd think people would just compare it to other films in the same genre...
Anyway, I actually thought it was pretty good and charming. My favorite part had to be that scene where they were all drinking their moonshine... I can't remember the name... basically 👍

The movie is fine—nothing groundbreaking, but it’s an okay way to pass the time.

The Greeks are portrayed a bit brutally, though I hope it’s obvious that their traits are totally exaggerated here. I know from experience.

The whole vibe reminds me of how people from certain towns in the South get depicted in shows like "Prosijak and Son," or even how Italian Americans are played in movies with Roberto de Nir... stuff like that.

I mean, whatever, it's just a movie meant for fun... but there's always someone who takes it too seriously and walks away with the wrong idea.

So, I guess I'm not surprised if some people find it offensive.

The only decent part was when his grandma absolutely clobbers him with her handbag. 😂

The movie was alright... but honestly, Mambo Italiano is way better. It’s absolutely hilarious!

In my opinion, her best role was that auntie character, the one from that movie about the woman with the obsession...😁

Then the movie is just total garbage... at least within its own genre 😁.

Heh. If Andrea Martin played the aunt, she’d be totally unhinged—definitely one of those 70s legends from the SCTVA crew.

I was honestly pretty annoyed by how much of a complete tool John Corbett turned out to be.
The lead actress didn't exactly win me over either. 🙄

Just your classic American rom-com.
Honestly, it’s my least favorite genre—and let's be real, this specific subgenre is easily the absolute worst part of it!

Seriously, this movie is everything! I’ve already sat through it three times and honestly? I loved every single second of it. If families are actually like that in Greece... then sign me up, because I wouldn't mind adding a Greek guy to my family tree. 😁
