I was scrolling through some scouting reports the other day and it got me thinking about how much the "expert" consensus shifts every single year. It feels like we're constantly being told who the next big superstar is supposed to be, only for them to end up being a career backup or, even worse, out of the league entirely by year three.
I remember back in my college days, there was this one kid everyone was obsessed with—the kind of player who made the local news every week. We all thought he was a lock for a top-five pick. Fast forward a few years, and I don't even recognize his name. It makes me wonder if these deep-dive positional rankings are actually useful, or if they're just noise meant to keep us clicking.
The more I look at how much hype gets manufactured around certain positions, the more I doubt the "projected" greatness of these athletes. It's easy to look at a highlight reel and see a legend, but it's a whole different story when you're looking at the actual grit needed for the pro level.
Do you guys actually trust these early projections, or do you wait until the actual draft season to form an opinion?
