I was watching some highlights last night and it got me thinking about how much scouting is actually just guesswork. It feels like every time a massive club in Europe makes a huge, eye-popping signing, the narrative is always "how did nobody see this coming?"

It’s honestly kind of frustrating to watch. You see these incredible players developing in leagues that don't get half the media coverage, and then suddenly they're being valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. It makes you wonder if the big-time scouts are actually looking, or if they're just waiting for someone else to do the heavy lifting for them. I remember back in my college days, there was this one guy who was absolutely tearing it up in our local circuit, but because he wasn't playing for a top-tier academy, he basically vanished from the radar.

It feels like there's a massive gap between raw talent and actually getting noticed by the elite clubs. Do you think the scouting networks are actually getting worse, or are we just seeing more "unlikely" success stories because of how globalized everything has become?
