The death of the "unreliable narrator" in modern media?

I feel like we're constantly being spoon-fed every single detail and angle nowadays, leaving absolutely zero room for mystery or suspense. It's getting harder to enjoy a story when you feel like you're being manipulated by an overwhelming flood of "context." Does anyone else miss when media actually let us wonder about the truth for a bit?
