I honestly don't know how some managers and sporting directors do it. The sheer level of stress involved in these last-minute deals is insane. I remember watching a club I support nearly lose their star midfielder because of a clerical error and a late flight, and I felt like I was having a heart attack just sitting on my couch.
It feels like the entire industry just holds its breath every single summer. You have these massive deals that seem impossible one day, and then suddenly, everyone is scrambling to get paperwork filed before the clock hits midnight. It’s a total gamble. Do you think these frantic, late-window moves actually build better squads, or is it mostly just desperation and panic buying?
