I was thinking about how much the landscape of the game has changed lately. It used to feel like if a player really loved a club and had become a bit of a cult hero, they’d stay put until the end. Now, it feels like the moment a certain level of interest comes knocking, the "loyalty" just evaporates. It’s all about the next step, the next contract, and the next big stage.

Don't get me wrong, I get it from a professional standpoint. These guys have short careers and they need to maximize their value while they can. But as a fan, it’s getting harder to swallow. You spend years watching someone become a fixture in the lineup, only to see them being linked with a move to a "big six" giant just because the opportunity presents itself. It makes the connection between the supporters and the squad feel so much more transactional.

Is it even possible for a player to be truly "loyal" anymore in this era of constant movement, or are we just romanticizing a version of the sport that doesn't exist anymore?
