I was falling down a rabbit hole of sports history last night, looking at career leaderboards for some of my favorite old-school teams. It’s funny how we obsess over these specific yardage totals and rankings from decades ago. It feels like we’re constantly trying to quantify greatness, as if a single number can really capture how much a player actually impacted the game or changed the culture of a franchise.

To me, the "all-time leader" lists always feel a bit arbitrary. You have guys who were absolute legends and carried teams on their backs, but because they played in a different era or had fewer games, they don't even crack the top five in the record books. It makes me wonder if we focus too much on the statistical outliers instead of the guys who actually defined an era of play.

When you look at the history of a team, do you value the statistical GOATs more, or the players who had the most "clutch" impact regardless of what the box score says?
