If my past interactions with this user give me the distinct impression he isn't being honest, why is it an issue if I ask him to back up his claims?
Why such an intense reaction? Why bring up partisan politics over a simple question? Who did I actually threaten? Who did I offend? Is it acceptable for certain users to post whatever nonsense comes to mind, while any attempt at questioning them is strictly forbidden?

From where I'm sitting, he’s either trolling at best, or worse, maliciously scaring people—which ultimately puts thousands of lives at risk and stalls our collective return to normalcy. My father is in a high-risk group, and it's precisely because of statements like these that he hasn't gotten vaccinated yet. He heard a rumor from someone who heard about someone else having a bad reaction. Like I said before, I have nothing against discussing rare adverse events following vaccination, but that isn't what is happening here.

For instance, why is this user allowed to call the vaccine "poison" without consequence? Why aren't posts like these—where a user invokes global conspiracies and claims the vaccine is a tool for upcoming tyranny—subject to any sanctions?

I'm not complaining about the penalty. I realize I didn't get banned because of you, but rather due to an accumulation of points. I just want to understand how the rules actually work on this subforum.

I already posted a response to you on the main thread—you were banned because you attempted to "offer money" in exchange for private information that nobody is under any obligation to provide. It isn't about whether you actually succeed in getting the data; it’s about the intent, which was fundamentally dishonest.
If you find yourself unable to trust people, well, what can I say? You'll just have to live with that. This is a public forum, and while everyone is free to express their opinions as long as they abide by the rules, you certainly don't have the right to demand evidence that someone would then be forced to publish publicly. It's quite similar to how you wouldn't have the right to grab a random woman by the arm on a street corner in Chicago and offer her cash for information; anyone would be perfectly justified in viewing that as harassment.
You brought this specific line of reasoning to the discussion, but I have absolutely no desire to see this become an accepted practice or to see others follow your lead.

Furthermore, your personal assessment that the forum users are merely trolls, or that there are no real consequences at play, doesn't hold water with me; I haven't gathered such an impression, nor do I see any reason to draw that conclusion based on his previous posts.
There are rare occasions, acting as a legitimate exception, where the content itself matters less than the character of the person writing it.
And if you ask me, the system described in that PDF operates entirely on the principle of trust; remember, when someone lies, they aren't really deceiving you—they are simply deceiving themselves.

I'm not hunting for private info that he hasn't already made public. I'm looking for confirmation of things he brought up himself. You make a fair point that he doesn't owe me anything, and that's exactly why the choice to verify his own claims lies entirely with him. There's a massive difference between me going public with someone else's medical diagnosis and asking a person to confirm their own statements based on patterns in their own posts. The "private information" argument doesn't really apply here. If I recall correctly, people on other subforums share specific medical records all the time when they're looking for second opinions from the community.

Sometimes, as an exception to the rule, it matters less of what is being said and more about who is saying it.

Does this look like the writing of someone who was actually vaccinated? Would someone who supposedly suffered such a severe reaction—dealing with a pulmonary embolism, blood clots, and four days in the ICU—really hop onto a forum to ask for advice about getting a second dose?

The issue isn't that someone is deceiving themselves; it's that people with similar mindsets present these subjective experiences to others as if they were established facts. That's precisely how you get those "I heard about this one case..." stories starting to circulate.
